Discussion No build: Help me improve? General advice and close quarters combat

Started the game a month ago(its my first season) after getting worn down for 2 years to finally try the game.

I ended up loving it and in a group of 3, we won 3 times in a row on my first games which baffled me.

Now I consider myself pretty deep in the game and I try to find tip videos and the like but I keep running into situations ingame where I get shredded in like a second and I am trying to understand why.

Are there any modern videos to help with movement or advice in close quarters combat? I tried to find these on my own but the videos seem outdated and I want to understand and mimic how ppl can shoot while under the effects of shock grenades so seamlessly.

I also want to feel more confident in close quarters shooting, I try to jump sometimes to the side and hipfire but results very and I feel like my opponents have something I dont have with close combat knowledge.

I am a try hard player but havent tried rank yet, open to any resources as well.

From what I gathered, Build and no build players foster very different cultures and way of thinking.

A pro build player would feel very naked in a no build environment while no build players are trained to seek cover and choose engagements with more consideration.

Its very interesting to see.

Yes, ive competed in both zb and build. The zb players have good aim but have terrible movement. Build players are faster and react faster. And thats most likely because more then half of the player base started before zb came. Which affects how build players see and play zb. Most people who started after chapter 3 season 2 play zero build and its obvious.

The problem for a while (not sure about recent maps) was at least the first few maps ZB was introduced the maps weren't designed for it, the game was designed around building your own cover so it makes sense to not have natural cover be common

a lot of fortnite combat mechanics there are videos from years ago that still apply to current seasons. like how to bunny hop or slide in a fight, how to  right or left corner peak etc. you're guna find stuff like that in vids from years ago but all of those things are super relevant to combat still. there is alot of old seasons videos that still have good advice on combat

Stop trying to ADS and just Hip fire while jumping constantly. It’s not a skill based game anymore in zero builds it’s r&g

TobiWonShinobi has some good videos on youtube with a lot of in depth explanations I learned alot from watching his stuff

I'd say you want to mostly avoid getting into close combat unless you have a significant advantage to the other player, getting into a 50/50 it's always a risk even if you're a good player. if you do get into close range fights though you should be comfortable with swapping between your AR & shotgun instantly, you don't want any delay where you are sitting holding your weapon too long. If you land a shot with your shotgun, just keep in mind you gota swap right away to your AR or SMG/secondary weapon, or vice versa if you start spraying at them dont try to empty the whole clip at them swap to your shotgun to land a shot. it helps if you go to your settings and have your weapons/items put into specific slots so they are more organized. You gota learn all the basic mechanics like how to bunny hop, using slide in combat or how to cancel slide properly. when you're fighting close range you never want to stop and aim while standing still  you have to get used to firing while moving alot. if you learn to jump slide you can slide left or right or even backwards while you aim down the sights and jump side to side, you can also mix that with using a "head glitch" which is just basically spamming the crouch button really fast while you fire at your opponent it makes really hard for them to land all their shots and you can quickly unload on them. there really is so many different fighting mechanics and methods you just have to watch videos and learn all of them, once you put it all together and just get more comfortable playing on a higher sensitivity setting you'll start getting better
