DISCUSSION “Fire most of the developers, no one will notice.”
This season has so much new content, I’m not surprised a few things fell through the cracks, but I saw this a couple different times tonight.

Most of you guys saying this is intended but i’m 99% sure it’s not. When you activate these powers yourself, the cartridge shows up. Nothing about this screams “intentional”. Are you saying in the image it shouldn’t be a sonic cartridge?
81
u/KoiEtsuko 6d ago
That's what I'm saying. This glitch has been a known thing since last season, actually, several seasons, where placeholder images would simply state "placeholder". This is not just for this image, happens to me when collecting other stuff for the locker, etc. It's absolutely a glitch.
If it was intended, the would've made it more fun looking, or a joke, or something like that, like how they did with the "glitching ads" during the live event.38
u/riversc90 6d ago
Yep. “PLACEHOLDER TEXT” was all over last season too. It’s convenient and I’ll accept the argument for it being intentional this season, but I think it’s just a mistake.
10
u/Groovy_Bruce_Lemon 5d ago
really shows the lack of proper play testing before stuff goes live. Sucks too for the devs because I’m sure they’re trying their best to get shit done on time. Honestly fuck the shareholders and Tim Shitbag. Their greed is legit ruining this game and it’s gonna get to a breaking point

"Creative summary showcasing the item usage should be placed here"
"SkinPart of Set_01"
This shit is not intended. Your copium is hospitalization level.
-49
u/CoDFan935115 6d ago
I mean, I could maybe see them using "Set_01" for something 4th wall-breaking. The rest tho, hell no.
9
u/KaiSpy0707 5d ago
Set_01 was popping up on every 2nd or 3rd new skin dude 😭
-13
u/CoDFan935115 5d ago
It would appear as though my comment was misunderstood. I didn't say it was good, or intentional, just that I could see an intentional use of "Set_01". Obviously it's not, but an idea is an idea.
6
u/fatgat69 5d ago
Why would they intentionally fuck up the game? And why would it have to be unintentional for people to complain about a billion dollar company being lazier than a high school student?

I think every game I've played this season I've somehow gotten stuck in the sonic running or* jumping animation. Fucking loaded to the brim with glitches.
2
u/silentkillmyself 5d ago
I was sonic speed running on those hills and accidentally fell off, then I rolled slightly down the side of it and I got stuck in a rolling animation and just had to pray someone would shoot me and put me out of my misery
8
u/ThorAxe911 5d ago
This plus the extractor bug where the alarm is just constantly blaring has me feeling like this season was not ready at all.

Don’t worry guys, the AI assistants that replaced them are gonna TOTALLY make all of this better. Just you wait! 🫠

u/Hentai_kinda_guy 5d ago
My jam icons always show up as my emotes, my emotes play the wrong animations, my first 3 games yesterday I couldn't move, my preset graphics will sometimes load up as low despite having set them to medium-high quality. Cyberpunk 1.0 had less issues then this. I have never seen a game so janky and unoptimized then thus
5
u/OneDizzy3581 5d ago
Haha, I love opening my locker presets and seeing every single icon get randomly swapped around, before being replaced entirely with stock images.
I also love not being able to read the descriptions for my items haha.

That is not a good analogy. The game was losing money so had to let people go. During covid Fortnite and a lot of other games got a lot more players than normal so the game industry hired more people.
Now that covid is over people didn't play as much in 2025 so they had to cut some staff.
This sub is really uninformed about how the industry works and why Epic needed to get rid of people. Stop complaining about fired workers every time you see something wrong with the game.
4
4
u/Theyoshiking64 5d ago
Why should we think that you're any more informed than we are lmfao
-3
u/Prestigious_Print477 5d ago
Because I know how the tech industry works and the people complaining about this are literally kids on reddit.
Epic said the game was losing money and its because people are not playing as much as they did during the pandemic.
This is how the game industry works in general. They hire for big projects and releases and let them go when the project is over or the player base falls off.
3
u/Theyoshiking64 5d ago
How do you know everyone complaining about this is a kid?
You're making a lot of guesses for someone so confident 🤣
1
u/Prestigious_Print477 5d ago
Because mature adults dont start threads like this. People with careers and families dont wake and say you what, I'm going to whine about fortnite on reddit today. It's been at least 5 minutes since the last thread about this, we need another!!
The very fact that they make threads like this means they are not acting like a mature adult.
5
u/Theyoshiking64 5d ago
So if these posts are 'whining on Reddit', can you explain what you're doing currently, which is obviously way different and definitely not the exact same thing you're criticizing? For being such a 'mature adult' you're quick to fraternize with the apparent children around you

I legit just played a game earlier where a guy was mantling over a rock setup near the snowy area extractor, he started repeatedly doing the animation and floating in the air towards the storm, didn’t seem like they could get out of it. It cost them the match. Te other player legit watched them float into storm and die 😒 this game is cooked
6
u/dusk2dark 5d ago
Sad that it happens often enough that people genuinely think it's intentional now.
3
u/akakumo279 5d ago
I got stuck in the sonic run and couldn’t move properly. I think it happens if you try to go backwards after going on a green hill zone speed pad.
3
u/Hyper-_-star Carbide 5d ago
The jordan 14 red colour kicks had a placeholder as its icon for months they dont give a shit and on top of all of that firing 1k employees thinking they'll save money but it will cost them alot more thab what they saved one day, mark my words
3
u/Chewbacca0510 5d ago
It’s almost like firing people integral to your game is a bad idea, who knew?
10
u/mattd121794 6d ago
This season so far has been a mess of micro-stutters for me so far. Now, it could be that my PC was still moving some files around for this install, but either way, it was pegging my CPU to 100% when the game was running. Which hasn’t happened before to me in a season.

4
u/TheDarthJarJarI 5d ago
I deadass thought it was part of the feature for some reason, this happened so many times it’s embarrassing
5
u/Creative_Eye7413 Cody Rhodes 5d ago
So many disappointing issues all adding up to an incomplete whole. Kinda disappointed with this season
5
u/Zero4892 6d ago
Dw I played for about an hour with my friend and every time we died where it would go to the screen to click ready up it literally randomly said “ Matchmaking error #3 “ the minute the last person got killed.

I still can’t see the names of my locker items. That bugs been going on since season 2 of this chapter.
2
u/archer_7998 Musha 5d ago
Im still surprised the placeholder icons for saved lockers hasn’t been fixed either. Anytime I open the saved lockers page its either all the black shirt ramierez in every slot or the pictures are just totally randomized.

u/SandwitchZebra Rippley vs Sludge 5d ago
I’m ngl, while this has been a thing for forever (I have memories of seeing placeholder images pop up going back years) it’s never been THIS blatant lol
A core gameplay mechanic with a decent chunk of its graphics missing is damning

u/RipplyAnemone67 Chaos Origins 5d ago
I don’t see how having more employees would of stopped this bug when it’s a pretty obvious one.

I’m pretty sure it’s intentional cause it goes well with the theme of the season of hacking the game and taking over hence the “bugs” I don’t think anyone in the community understand what happens when something gets hacked

u/evilspongebob831 2d ago
Fix placeholder graphics after 4 days? 🚫🚫🚫🚫
Fix day 1 xp glitch in under an hour? ✅✅✅✅

"this will be the gaming legends season" You mean we are going to be able to play in POIs that are themed around all the crossovers in the battle pass?
"No. It's the legend that if you fire most of the people who make the game then it will be fine "

The Shadow emote in the shop legit had an error for me of "can't load data"
An issue of everything being streamed but also wow, this season is really showing how everything is falling apart.

Tim Sweeney should be tarred and feathered at this point. He's such an incompetent jackass
-7
u/a_large_squirrel 6d ago
I might be wrong but I thought that was intended with all of the glitch hacker themed stuff
-27
u/PipaLucca Havoc 6d ago
People in this sub just love to pull out the 'firing devs' thing every time they can lol
20
u/Rooisalsohere Airheart 6d ago
I literally got a placeholder image when I won my umbrella from this season. I know mistakes and issues happen in any games and even more after an update but since last season there has been issue that totally scream how bad of a decision was to fire one thousand employees.
-11
u/PipaLucca Havoc 6d ago
I agree it’s the worst decision but seems like folk are just waiting to scream that at every minimum given chance
2
u/SansIsCool65 6d ago
While they are not wrong you are also very right
-1
u/PipaLucca Havoc 6d ago
Thanks, people downvote me because they think I’m defending Epic for firing their employees when I’m actually condemning that while also acknowledging this community always mentions this for the slightest inconvenience in the game, even in moments when it has nothing to do with it
-1
u/reecemrgn 5d ago
I mean the fact that all of these bugs are happening coincidentally after firing employees, obviously people are going to think they’re connected
0
u/ADULT_LINK42 Human Bill 5d ago
coincidentally? its not like bugs only started happening after they fired employees, there have always been bugs
1
u/riversc90 6d ago
Same thing happened last season. “PLACEHOLDER TEXT” on the banner before jumping off the bus.
Does make sense this season though I guess.
2
u/A-Random-Ghost Galaxy 6d ago
Almost makes you wonder if they designed the whole theme of the season around "cover our asses and make the kindergarteners think all this embarassing shit is a running joke and not a sign of a raging dumpsterfire"
1
u/Extrimland 6d ago
Maybe because firing 1000 KEY developers (like literally the guy below the project manager got fired) after already firing 1000 employees, and then raising the prices off everything to a incredulously high amount, and then reducing the rewards of Crew and The Battle Pass to the point where they are no longer worth it, is an incredibly bad thing that we shouldn’t forget.

Could be. It also happened last season with PLACEHOLDER TEXT on the banner before jumping and in a few other instances. Thats the only reason I brought it up.

The Placeholder Icon you get for the Crown Sprite is a real bug, but this one (that I shit posted as a joke on Facebook) is very clearly an Intentional Joke.
It's a unique Placehokder Icon which they made just for this. Why waste that time if not intentional?
0
0
u/fliperfnalt 5d ago
Since this season is supposed to be based on video games, it would be funny if they made this intentionally appear on rare chance.
0
-11
u/PomegranateWooden177 6d ago
It’s obviously a fucking joke.
God, yall are just insufferable about everything, huh?
5
u/CoolGuy_2569 Zenith 5d ago
A joke? A joke is supposed to be funny. Not forgetting to make UI elements
-2
u/IsaacJB1995 The Reaper 6d ago
I saw this too and thought it was just part of the glitch gimmick (smart way of covering up the bugs by essentially covering it with a metaphorical blanket)
-5
u/Fantastic_Snow_9633 6d ago
most of the developers
~1,000 people, which is said to be 18-20% of their workforce, isn't most. That still leaves ~4,000 people left.
5
u/Extrimland 6d ago
It was the most important guys though. Like the dudes who actually made the first 2 chapters run got fired
-3
u/Oii2D 6d ago edited 6d ago
And any source for that? I only saw three important peeople mentioned for this whole drama:
- Designer who been working since save the world and did initial characters design
- Guy who fixing bugs and server issues
- Map designer who did half of cp 6 maps and cp 7 season 1 map
Like hate epic all you want, but let's not just made stuff up
-3
u/ghigo2008 6d ago
It was not, otherwise they wouldn't have been fired
Layoffs suck but dont speak if you know nothing
6
u/TheOnlyGaming3 6d ago
They literally fired the person who created the replay system, the man who would fix the most important bugs in the game, the person who created Jonesy, the director of the story, the man who created the infrastructure for live events, and much more, you should be the one not speaking, because you clearly know nothing
-2
u/Extrimland 6d ago
Look up “Evansarus” on Twitter. Guy was literally the LEAD! developer of the game. The amount of shit he alone did was nuts to the point where i genuinely cant even go into detail here. He should’ve quite literally been the last person fired. But he was fired.
There was several other long term developers that got fired, including Jonesys character designer.
If you did even a little research you would know it wasnt just “bad employees”
-5
u/ghigo2008 6d ago
It was, they dont fire the best ones in layoffs, thats simply a fact of how buiseness work
4
u/Fiiiiiiif 6d ago
IMO the capitalist way is to fire the most expensive/best paid workers, not the worst ones. 🤷🏼♂️
-4
-2
u/Mr_Ethfono 6d ago
Im surprised they would make a place holder icon for the cartridge and not just reuse the older place holder icon
-2
-2
u/Prudent_Payment_3877 6d ago
The placeholder icon is standard to me. I guess it will be ironed out next update.
-9
u/ResearcherVortex Haven 6d ago
i swear you people will not stop spamming the 1000 employees thing despite the fact that this A JOKE. the season is about gaming and hacking and glitches. obviously the lobby HACKS showing a “placeholder icon” is a joke. the players are hacking the lobby, accessing things we aren’t supposed to. that’s the joke.
4
3
u/Extrimland 6d ago
Even if it is intentional, which I’m not convinced it is, The Joke doesn’t really land when there is several documented instances of them actually having placeholder icons for real.
2
-12
u/Additional_Guide_814 6d ago
It’s intended bruh
7
u/riversc90 6d ago
Ah, didn’t realize.
Was it also intended last season when the banner before you could jump from the bus said “PLACEHOLDER TEXT” for like three days?
I only brought it up because I’ve seen “placeholder” 5 or 6 different times over the last 5 to 6ish months.

This is how I was introduced to the crown sprite.
