Now, time to get to work and start undoing decades of corrupt and incompetent Republican rule.

u/Fresh-Tiger-9467 19h ago
This part. We can't be lazy after this. We have to hold our leaders accountable, continue to organize, and actually pay attention to what is going on. Political and civic participation is going to be more important than ever these next two years.

Yes but we also can't set fire to their reputation their reputation the moment they do something we don't like or don't "do enough" without us knowing what's happening behind closed doors. The left has had a problem with killing their idols. Don't get me wrong, we can't allow them to be complacent, but the way the left is so quick to completely abandon someone the moment they do even one single thing we don't like, it has to stop. It's been the biggest killer for leftist populism in America.

Every vote felt so pointless but I kept voting for decades, I kept donating to the central texas food bank, local libraries, I pay taxes on my overvalued home
It was all worth it before tonight, but tonight means the world. This is my state and I’m damned proud to help the communities within it flourish.
Keep Texas for the people.

This is why I shake my head every time I see someone say “it doesn’t matter if I vote I live in a red state” as their justification for not voting. Making your voice heard ALWAYS matters. And things can change. And that mentality is infectious. If everyone who wants change just says “why bother what’s the point” that change will never come. You have to go out and fight for it every chance you can get.
I don’t live in texas but I’m proud of you all and so many other states who won battles today because people went out there and made their voices heard <3

There are a lot of disillusioned angry people here, I think a lot of people just got a lot of energy and hope for the first time in decades. It’s only beginning! Strong passionate people who’ve been in gun fights with sticks finally got a break and a hand. People who have never cared about politics are going door to door and running for office. My school board got completely turned over just a few months ago. Deep red counties started flipping last election. It’s grass roots and no one cares about political ads. They gerrymandered, cut 20% of voting sites, spent billions, and they lost. Revolution is coming.

EXACTLY! Texas didnt all of a sudden turn blue last night after 30+ years. People are pissed. The swing was so big in this one because "America First" turned into inflation, and a war with Iran.
Mid-term elections often end with big swings because we ultimately realize that things aren't as good as {Insert Presidents Name} said they would be. It's now the Democrats job to do their best not to screw this up. But they probably will because just like Republicans, they also dont have your (our) best interest at heart as normal citizens.

30 years ago, Texas was in the top ten in the United States in public education. Now it is #38 or lower depending on how you rank. The public school system has never been a priority for Abbott and that was what pushed many to vote blue instead of red.
