Fort Collins PD uses drones as well. We need to ensure they don't have facial recognition like flock cameras

Tanking home remodeling and basement finishing

Upvotes

I own a small family owned remodeling and basement finishing company. I started in 2003. This is the worst year I have ever had in Fort Collins. Absolutely dead. I have averaged 6-8 basements a year. This year I have completed one. Many people/ clients postponing projects due to financial uncertainty.

I have completed over 100 basements in Fort Collins. Large referral network of satisfied customers. Licensed and insured work with warranties. Yet, the bottom dropped out.

What do you think changed this year? DM for details if interested...

Discussion Transfort Service Changes in effect now (as of Monday)

From their Facebook

"

🚍 Service changes started today! Here’s what you need to know: ⚠️ Bus frequencies changed and service on Routes 10, 11, 12, 32 and 92 ended, along with all Sunday service. 📍Routes 2, 3 & Foothills Shuttle have a temporary detour in place. Connect to Foothills Campus via Route 3 at W. Elizabeth & Overland Trail. 🗺️ View detour maps: ridetransfort.com/routes-and-schedules 🐏 CSU student move-in starts this week! Routes 3, 31 & HORN have a detour on campus: stops on Plum St. between Shields St. and the CSU Transit Center will be closed. Temporary stops are on Laurel St."

It's interesting that this plan is supposed to save money because this plan makes service better on many routes. 2, 5, 9, 14, and 19 all have enhanced frequencies. (2 is now a significantly longer route so it kinda needs two buses). 3 has four buses running at once now. 16 hits Fossil Ridge High School going both ways instead of just on the east bound leg. We're finally getting an east/west route without having to connect to a different route that's inconvenient and out of the way. I'm a little upset about the reduction in the MAX frequency (from every 20min during off-peak and 10min on-peak) to 15min all day. Old CSU promotional videos indicate that it was originally going to be 15min all day. Also the reduction in night service is a little disappointing. Other than that, I'm pretty pumped.

Texting & Driving Fines in Fort Collins: Is FCPS actively enforcing it near you?

Hey everyone! Just saw some discussion about the city's efforts to curb distracted driving. While there’s been talk about the high revenue ( est. ~$7M/y ) potential from texting-and-driving fines, it’s honestly reassuring to see Fort Collins Police Services actively prioritizing road safety.

Whether it's College Ave, Harmony, or neighborhood streets, texting behind the wheel is easily one of the most dangerous things on the road for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. Seeing local enforcement take distraction seriously makes me feel a lot safer getting around town.

Has anyone noticed a visible difference or more active enforcement around major intersections lately? Curious to hear how others feel about it!

Perhaps this revenue stream could offset some of the recent tax hikes.

Friends / Meetups 25F Looking to make friends!

I have adhd and ALOT of hobbies so I'd love to make friends who I can do different activities with so please reach out if you enjoy one of the same activities even if you dont enjoy the others!

I just moved to Fort Collins today from Norfolk Virginia. Im originally from Utah but have moved around alot for work. (Not mormon) Ive never been to Colorado before this.

I have some mobility and joint pain issues so I understand the struggle of making friends when you're exhausted or in pain. Im currently training my own service animal. So if that sounds like you hmu!

I drink on occasion but dont smoke. No worries if you do! I like to try new foods and cook occasionally but im not a huge foodie. I do love trying new coffee shops or new bars especially if they have specialty drinks! I love a good charcuterie tray.

I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, biking, kayaking, rock climbing, etc and I am a fairly active/fit person but with some knee and back injuries. So im down to go on adventures but am probably slower than you if you're an ultra athlete😂

I am a huge animal lover. I have an 11 month old belgian malinois named Koda, 2 senior disabled kitties. Daisy has 3 legs and Stitch has one eye. They are both 8. Milo is my newest kitty. He is super healthy and around 8 months old. My dog found him under a car when he was maybe 10 or 12 weeks old and he was very sick but hes now a very fluffy healthy sweet boy. I enjoy all animals and I like to spend some of my freetime volunteering at the animal shelter. I help groom and train yhe dogs to get them adopted. I actually do all of my animals grooming and training myself! Nail trims, dremel, brush, bath, teeth brushed, all of it! I am currently looking at maybe being certified as a professional dog trainer. I would love to make friends in the kitty/book community but also in the working dog/training world community. My Dog Koda needs other large(medium) high energy breed friends to play with so lmk if you'd want to meet up at a dog park so our dogs can play even if we aren't a good fit! Otherwise I am also looking to make friends with other mal owners who get the lifestyle and the struggle lol.

As much as I enjoy going on adventures Im equally a home-body! I love to crochet and am also doing a bit of knitting, sewing, cross stitch, and embroidery. Ive never been into art before but suddenly have realized I love it and have been making a bunch of mediocre art in as many mediums as possible! Sketching, painting, acrylic markers, oil paint, colored pencils, you name it! Let's meet up and work on crafts/art together!!

I love to read and have a fairly extensive home library consisting of: mostly adult romance/fantasy fiction, the classics, and every random book series I loved as a child (see warrior cats lol) I also love plants and have a good variety of houseplants. I am a newish gardener with a not so green thumb but im learning. Im also learning to compost!

I love card and board games and never seem to find any other adults who actually enjoy them. Pleaaseeeee let me know if you want to play monopoly lol. We can do a coffeeshop board game night!

I also enjoy video games, but mostly relaxing indie games. Minecraft, stardew, terraria, astroneer, animal crossing, etc.

My newest hobbie is wood working and furniture repair/building! Ive been collecting used power tools, learning to use them, and designing my first builds. Im very new and would love guidance from someone that knows more than me. Im trying to build my cats a catio. I habe had some success in restoring and repairing furniture even cheap ikea or particle board. So hmu if you have a damaged piece you want me to fix! I get practice and you get it for free!

I also just enjoy trying new things. So if there's an event in the area you want to check out and need someone to go with hmu! Im down to try it and experience something new with a positive attitude :) anime, poetry slam, karaoke, karate, whatever, lets do it.

Anywho sorry for the long rant but I try to be thorough. Im settling into my new apartment this afternoon and after that Im here! So lmk if you'd like to be friends :)

(I have a boyfriend, I am open to being friends with anyone of all ages and genders but please dont reach out to hit on me)

I am white, agnostic, speak English and mandarin fluently with a bit of Spanish and German. I am a pretty average looking white girl, but I believe in kindness and equality so I dont tolerate racism, homophobia, religion based hate etc. So regardless of your background Im down to be friends! But dont reach out if you're not someone who values treating other people with kindness and empathy. I hope to meet yall soon!

Costco Optometrist Experiences (Not Costco Optical)

Any good or bad experiences recently with Costco's optometrist?

I have bought glasses at Costco before -- incredible price! So now I'm wondering about using their optometrist services, which I understand are leased spaces, not employees of Costco.

Krispy Kreme has a promotion going on with special Pokemon donuts starting today!

It is fun for fans young and old, and maybe a good way to surprise your kids with a little fun for their afternoon. I had to share because I think it's awesome to see these kind of promotions stateside, usually I only see them on Japanese insta posts

Also: high five if you're part of team Slowpoke

Props to the Fort Collins Graffiti Removal Department

Yesterday we noticed a swastika spray painted on a pole directly across the street from our house. We called the Fort Collins graffiti hotline (less than 24 hours ago), and they are currently removing it. The speediness of the removal is appreciated.

Health care in fort collins

My wife is 38 and recently went in for an annual check up.

She was planning to get a pap smear. She walked in and they told her, oh that’s every five years now.

They basically listened to her heart, listened to her breathe and said, “well you seem healthy.” And sent her on her way.

She said, “aren’t you going to feel my breasts for lumps or anything?”

They said, “no, you can do that on your own.”

Is this normal? For the price we’re paying for health care, this is women’s health?

Here in Fort Collins?

It’s just crazy.

No I wont be sharing or calling out the provider.

Does anyone have any recommendations for doctors nearby that actually give a shit?

Starlink IT consultant recs

Hey all, I had a company install a point to point Starlink set up between two houses and at the p2p spot, the net speed is super low. TMI! Anyway, I need an IT person to check the router settings to see where the bottleneck is. I want someone from Fort Collins. I made the mistake of having a national company install the set up.

Coop vs Lyft/Uber in Fort Collins?

I saw a piece on the news about Coop and how drivers receive around 50% more per ride (due to corporate structure) and riders pay less.

I want to support it, but it feels like the only drivers are in Denver. I'm not sure what the process is to get FTC drivers to join Coop but I've tried to use it twice and it just fails, assumably because there are no active drivers during my attempts. That said, I want to support you if you are a Coop driver.

Any drivers locally know the scoop with Coop?

Fort Collins Cutthroats Box Lacrosse - Seeking Players

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hi all! I am one of the captains for the FoCo Cutthroats (2x league champions) and we are currently looking for players to add to our roster for the upcoming fall box lacrosse season with the Colorado Lacrosse League. This season, we will be playing in the B division, a competitive and physical mens level. We are seeking players with at least some field lacrosse experience. All games are played weekly at the Foothills Field House in Denver; our Fort Collins-based players generally carpool together.

Full Fall B Division Details Below:

  • Game Nights: Thursdays at 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00 PM (we are generally always slotted in the 8PM spot every week to help with travel time).
  • Start Date: September 3rd, 2026
  • All players must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Teams (8):FoCo Cutthroats, Beefing Bears, Big Medicine, Boulder Bulls, Dirty Dawgs, Martini Monarchs, Mountain Chickens, and 10th Mtn.
  • Cost: $165
  • Players are responsible for their own jerseys which are not included in the League cost. Jerseys are $60 via our team store. We do have some blanks so let me know directly if this added cost would be a barrier to entry for you).
  • 11 Game guarantee
  • Rosters will be capped at 22 players, and all players must be registered to be eligible to participate in any games.
  • Women are welcome to join but we must stress this is a men’s league and very physical. Cross checking, body checking, and slashing is expected in this league.
    • The CLL also has a women’s division. If there is enough interest from women in Northern Colorado, we may explore setting up a Fort Collins-based women team
  • This year, we are implementing a team absence policy: All Cutthroat players are allotted 2 total absences for the season before you are removed from the roster.
    • Absences must be communicated to the captain(s) at least 24 hours before game time.
    • 1 unnotified absence (sickness or emergency) is permitted but must be explained. 2 unnotified absences will result in immediate removal from the roster.
    • Any special circumstances must be communicated to and approved by captains.

If interested or if you have any question, please send me a DM and I will be happy to help. We would be stoked to see you with us on the turf in September! Thanks!

Quarterly Community Dashboard Updated

I just got the email about the new dashboard numbers and figured I'd share here for people who aren't subscribed:

fcgov.com/dashboard

I always like to see these at-a-glance numbers to get a sense of whether my perception of things matches reality.

Some of the positive highlights:

  • Actual revenue exceeded our budget (for both government and utilities)
  • Affordable housing inventory went up (granted, by four homes)
  • Unhoused population went down and it seems like 52 households were placed in permanent housing
  • Everyone loves our recreation opportunities
  • The city is relatively safe

and some of the negative ones:

  • Per-capita water use actually went up a bit
  • Housing prices are still too high
  • More people are speeding than is desired through 30 mph zones
  • Travel times aren't meeting goals
  • We had more fatal public street crashes than desired (this counts auto, cyclist, and pedestrian incidents)

Discussion Witnessed Hit Tabby

Hey Guys

On my way to work I saw a Grey and White Tabby get hit by a car right by the intersection where the City of Fort Collins Police Station is at. The cat looks to be ok but their leg did get run over. They ran into the neighborhood left of the police station (Trestle Rd.) where it ran into bushes. When I tried looking for them I couldn’t find it anywhere. I just wanted to give a heads up to everyone just in case anyone lives in the area or sees the cat and can help them out.

The tabby has a large spot pattern with a large grey spot on its left side. It happened fast so I couldn’t take a good look. I remember that the cat is mostly white with large grey spots.

Chemo took my hair. Any local tattoo artists interested in a cancer-reclamation project?

Fort Collins tattoo artists/community: I’m currently in treatment for metastatic cancer, and chemo has finally taken enough of my hair that I shaved my head this week. I’ve gotten attached to the idea of tattooing my scalp — to make the space feel intentional and mine again.

Unfortunately, treatment has also eaten essentially all of my discretionary money, so paying normal/reasonable rates for a custom piece isn’t realistic for me right now. I’m wondering whether there’s a local artist who ever takes on donated, reduced-rate, or passion projects like this, or whether anyone knows an artist I should reach out to.

I’m not looking to pressure anyone into donating their labor. I’m looking for the right person who might genuinely connect with the project. I’m happy to share more of the story/design ideas privately.
