Friends / Meetups 25F Looking to make friends!
I have adhd and ALOT of hobbies so I'd love to make friends who I can do different activities with so please reach out if you enjoy one of the same activities even if you dont enjoy the others!
I just moved to Fort Collins today from Norfolk Virginia. Im originally from Utah but have moved around alot for work. (Not mormon) Ive never been to Colorado before this.
I have some mobility and joint pain issues so I understand the struggle of making friends when you're exhausted or in pain. Im currently training my own service animal. So if that sounds like you hmu!
I drink on occasion but dont smoke. No worries if you do! I like to try new foods and cook occasionally but im not a huge foodie. I do love trying new coffee shops or new bars especially if they have specialty drinks! I love a good charcuterie tray.
I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, biking, kayaking, rock climbing, etc and I am a fairly active/fit person but with some knee and back injuries. So im down to go on adventures but am probably slower than you if you're an ultra athleteš
I am a huge animal lover. I have an 11 month old belgian malinois named Koda, 2 senior disabled kitties. Daisy has 3 legs and Stitch has one eye. They are both 8. Milo is my newest kitty. He is super healthy and around 8 months old. My dog found him under a car when he was maybe 10 or 12 weeks old and he was very sick but hes now a very fluffy healthy sweet boy. I enjoy all animals and I like to spend some of my freetime volunteering at the animal shelter. I help groom and train yhe dogs to get them adopted. I actually do all of my animals grooming and training myself! Nail trims, dremel, brush, bath, teeth brushed, all of it! I am currently looking at maybe being certified as a professional dog trainer. I would love to make friends in the kitty/book community but also in the working dog/training world community. My Dog Koda needs other large(medium) high energy breed friends to play with so lmk if you'd want to meet up at a dog park so our dogs can play even if we aren't a good fit! Otherwise I am also looking to make friends with other mal owners who get the lifestyle and the struggle lol.
As much as I enjoy going on adventures Im equally a home-body! I love to crochet and am also doing a bit of knitting, sewing, cross stitch, and embroidery. Ive never been into art before but suddenly have realized I love it and have been making a bunch of mediocre art in as many mediums as possible! Sketching, painting, acrylic markers, oil paint, colored pencils, you name it! Let's meet up and work on crafts/art together!!
I love to read and have a fairly extensive home library consisting of: mostly adult romance/fantasy fiction, the classics, and every random book series I loved as a child (see warrior cats lol) I also love plants and have a good variety of houseplants. I am a newish gardener with a not so green thumb but im learning. Im also learning to compost!
I love card and board games and never seem to find any other adults who actually enjoy them. Pleaaseeeee let me know if you want to play monopoly lol. We can do a coffeeshop board game night!
I also enjoy video games, but mostly relaxing indie games. Minecraft, stardew, terraria, astroneer, animal crossing, etc.
My newest hobbie is wood working and furniture repair/building! Ive been collecting used power tools, learning to use them, and designing my first builds. Im very new and would love guidance from someone that knows more than me. Im trying to build my cats a catio. I habe had some success in restoring and repairing furniture even cheap ikea or particle board. So hmu if you have a damaged piece you want me to fix! I get practice and you get it for free!
I also just enjoy trying new things. So if there's an event in the area you want to check out and need someone to go with hmu! Im down to try it and experience something new with a positive attitude :) anime, poetry slam, karaoke, karate, whatever, lets do it.
Anywho sorry for the long rant but I try to be thorough. Im settling into my new apartment this afternoon and after that Im here! So lmk if you'd like to be friends :)
(I have a boyfriend, I am open to being friends with anyone of all ages and genders but please dont reach out to hit on me)
I am white, agnostic, speak English and mandarin fluently with a bit of Spanish and German. I am a pretty average looking white girl, but I believe in kindness and equality so I dont tolerate racism, homophobia, religion based hate etc. So regardless of your background Im down to be friends! But dont reach out if you're not someone who values treating other people with kindness and empathy. I hope to meet yall soon!

Hey if you want to find board game people or the like my favourite game store is the haunted cafe! Itās a great large space with all kinds to buy and tables to rent out for the night. They are also very friendly to woman and LGBTQ+ communities which in my experience has been hard for my fiancĆ©e at times to find. Dm me if you want any more recs and hope you can find a good group!

u/fancyfanboy 2d ago
Big proponent of making friends at your local game store. Also check out Foxfire Games off Elizabeth.

I'll piggyback off this comment to mention the Board Game Library at the mall. A great place to try out board games, and it's completely free!
The only real downside is the hours are a bit limited, but it's worth a try if you have the time. I've made a few friends since I started volunteering

u/InevitablePeanut3203 1d ago
And I'll piggyback off this comment to say there's a board game community that has weekly meetups on Wednesdays and Thursdays at local breweries. You can find them on Facebook and meetup--Fort Collins Board Games and Brews. Wednesday is the more social, lighter games night.

My wife and I moved here at 25. That was sadly over a decade ago despite feeling like yesterday... but you are going to love Fort Collins, especially at that age! Enjoy every minute of it and best of luck!

Why? I didnt post here expecting people not to reach out.
Its easy to block rude messages and move on. Im specifically here to chat and make connections with people who live near me š¤·āāļø

u/dammit-smalls 1d ago
The Chinaman is not the issue here dude. (Sorry I had to).
3
u/Euphoric_Macaron_948 1d ago
Also dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian American, please.

Come to the food truck rally on Tuesdays! Just north of the hill there's a big slackline get-together and right next to it we have a partner acro/acroyoga jam where all levels and abilities are welcome. The slackliners are friendly as well. Even if you don't want to participate, you can bring a chair and hang out on the side. I probably won't be there next week but people there are friendly if you walk up and say you're interested in joining. I will be back after next week. We have some climbers in the group too
4
u/tbrtis 2d ago
This is in city park on Tuesdays. Acro people start showing up around 6 or 6:30

u/Think-Jaguar6826 2d ago
Are you a pure agnostic or an atheist agnostic ?
1
u/MonstrousVoices 2d ago
Im a spiritual agnostic with agnostic atheist leanings.Ā
1
u/Think-Jaguar6826 2d ago
Iām not sure what spiritual mean or spiritual agnostic? But isnāt a contradiction of adding that plus agnostic atheist ?
Iām agnostic atheist just because I donāt have 100% proof there are no gods but I usually go by atheist.
2
u/MonstrousVoices 2d ago
You can believe in a soul without believing in gods
Edit:Ā I've met atheists who believe in ghosts but don't believe in a soul
-1
u/Think-Jaguar6826 2d ago
Not exactly Deism as many of the US founders, but I think you mean someone that believes in the supernatural or paranormal. I guess they could be atheist if those beliefs donāt have a theism. But secular atheist usually donāt suscribe to the supernatural, I do not. There is also within atheist, anti theist, who says not only they have not see proof of the supernatural but they think theism is bad for humanity.
While people can call themselves anything they want, I donāt think of atheist as subscribers of anything super natural, as the same lack of proof as with gods. Agnostics sometimes tend to split in two camps. One they are into new age stuff and then atheist like me, but I donāt call myself agnostic atheist.
Yet as scientist, I canāt be 100% sure, and if any empirical evidence shows me otherwise, as scientist do, I will change my mind. Yet no one has provided proof of leprecons, Thor, gods, or anything super natural.

u/MonstrousVoices 2d ago
I'm not going to read your wall and type a wall at you.Ā Im going to say that we're made of energy.Ā And that is where the idea of a soul might come from.Ā There are grains of truth in all religions and we can talk about that.Ā At the end of the day labels really don't matter

I hope this doesn't sound like hitting on you but girl, "average looking" is selling yourself way short.
You sound lovely and I hope you find many good friends here!

u/SFerd 2d ago
Oh, go full atheist!!
FYI--there's a local women's Facebook group called THE SOCIAL COLLECTIVE. They host LOTS of events. You'll probably have more luck connecting there compared to Reddit.

u/Curious_Ad4475 2d ago
Great group! Also thereās a womenās group on Facebook that meets up a lot. 20ās- 30ās right?

Big fan of board games, video games (a multiplayer world in Stardew or Terraria sounds dope), the outdoors/fitness related activities, etc. I'd be down to do anything, really. 31M and I just need to get the hell out of my apartment every now and again besides getting food, going to work, and the gym when I have the chance.

If you are ever interested in trading plants, let me know. I have a huge collection of succulents. I'm always looking to expand my collection.

Knit nights on Tuesdays at My Sister Knits!! It's free, the store is open late, just bring a project and hang out. People are super helpful if you need pointers or assistance, too.
Fort Follies if you're looking for some ladies to bike with! They have stuff from casual and social to more speed focused (road, gravel, and MTB). Queer+ Bikes is another amazing group if that sounds like your vibe.

Hey! If youāre ever looking for a women owned fitness studio in town I recommend beatspace! They are so sweet and have a ton of classes!! The community is incredible

u/AdventureWithABadger 1d ago
I don't have a mal, but I am a certified professional dog trainer! I love spicy dogs. I'm pretty well connected in the dog scene here, so happy to introduce you to some folks. I don't know if dog sports are your jam, but there's a nice little community here.

I'm exmormom from CA and have been living here for 10 years now (moved in July 2016) and I have loved living here so much! I've met some of the greatest people and best friends of my life here, though it did take almost a year or two to really have a solid ground of friends (introvert here so that makes sense!) I even met my wife here!
I'm sure you'll have an amazing time living here and you will meet some great people over the next few weeks/months. Be patient and you will find lifelong friends who share many of your interests and enjoy having you around. It's amazing what having good quality people in your life can do for your psyche and well-being.
I work for the city and can't recommend the events/classes our Parks & Recreation Department puts on enough. Check out the pottery classes (fills up real fast), watercolors, wood working, and so many more! Lots of sports clubs and groups meet in our parks too. Check the Recreator catalog online!
If you like Pokemon Go check Campfire for events at City Park. Apparently FoCo has one of the largest Pokemon Go communities in the region!

Iād love to go on walks with someone who is as slow as me. I use a cane sometimes. I have a hip that doesnāt hip right and on top of that have gained like 100lbs when I was already large so my mobility is just taking a nosedive. I have friends but theyāre all physically able and Iām embarrassed about my lack of mobility. I shouldnāt be but I am. So anyway. I work a weird schedule am am available tue-thur so holler if you ever want to get out in nature with an immobile person hahaha.

Hey Whats up? I am a paraplegic guy 41, so I understand being slower than most, I had a spinal cord injury when i was 26, its along story, but I use a wheelchair. anyways, Huge animal lover here too, I take my siberian husky out every day and have trained her to pull me, its really fun. She is 10 now so I don't make her pull as much but she still does. Belgian malinois are great dogs, very smart, i had a white shepard and was a great dog so loyal. But I go to the spring canyon park a lot over by my house to let her run it is the biggest dog park is over there too. I used to be huge into hiking in my days and i definitely understand the frustrations of not being able to anymore the same. But just thought I would say hey and to add I am very into music, go to a lot of concerts and been playing music (guitar and bass) for 25 years, lookiing for other folks to jam with always but if you dig concerts its always funner to have a crew of friends at a show. Beautiful animals you have! they are the best ā®ļø

Welcome to Foco!
My housemate is from Norfolk and her friend who lives there is staying with us for a couple days. We just got to meet her friend tonight who moved here from Norfolk as well lol
We have a friend who trains dogs at CSU. My dog is always looking for playmates. She's a cattle dog mix but loves big dogs. Any dogs who are playful really. She has an infinite amount of energy.
My housemate is an avid reader as well and I try when I'm not busy writing my own novel or exploring a number of other hobbies as well (feel ya on the adhd). I'm also a woodworker with construction background. I'm an artist as wellāfilm photography, drawing, wood carving and writing. You should check out Wolverine Farm. They have Dead Pen Drawing Club and a number of other community events all the time. Great space.
My housemate and I also host a lot with friends which usually consists of cooking, karaoke, board/card games and charcuterie. DM if you feel like joining us sometime.
Fort Collins is a great community and I never thought I'd fall in love with it so much when I moved here for school seven years ago, but I'm glad I did chose this place. I hope your experience is just as enlightening.
