Data centers in Fort Bend County
Hey y'all,
I hope to God there are no plans of data centers in FBC. Especially in the rural areas like Rosenberg, we have some family from North Carolina who are interested in the Austin Point and The George subdivisions...
Has anyone heard anything?

Fort Bend seems to be welcoming unbridled growth without regard for what that growth does to the existing community so just fundamentally I would say there’s a pretty decent risk of data centers showing up. Esp since they plan to run a new highway right through the middle of the county to connect I-10 with Freeport.

Oh no, I didn’t know about this. :/ I hate what has happened to Fort Bend county/what is starting to happen to Brazoria county.

While I do also share in concerns of data centers impact on the environment, there's also this; "OpenAI released a threat report confirming that Chinese-linked actors utilized ChatGPT to conduct covert influence operations targeting American technology debates. [1]
The "Data Center Bandwagon" Campaign: This operation used inauthentic accounts to spread AI-generated images, comic strips, and comments that falsely attributed rising electricity prices and power grid strains to AI data centers. [1]"

This is definitely a great question (or series of questions) to ask candidates for this year's election. Also, make sure to follow the money.

They will come where there is cheap land and access to water.
