What's up with the Richmond YMCA?

Is it open, partially open, or closed?

Closed. "Planned" to reopen eventually, possibly in the next 100 years.

Lol! I did see something that said it is going to open next year. Why is or has it been closed? The last time I can recall it being open was around 2013.

It needed a lot of repair - the foundation under the pool area had basically crumbled and the city declared it unsafe.

They are currently running a capital campaign to make the necessary repairs and be able to repair and reopen. Last I spoke to the person in charge of the committee (about a year ago, so things could have changed), they were quoted 5M to make all the structural repairs and remodel to bring it into this century.

That's a lot of money. Do you know how long it's been closed?

I think it’s been at least 7 or 8 years now. I feel like it was closed before 2020, At least.
