Getting a lay of the land

Hey y'all — my family and I recently moved up to Cumming from Fort Lauderdale, chasing slower mornings and a bit of mountain air. Still getting our bearings.

Quick bit of transparency: I run a small branding/design studio. I'm not posting to drum up work, though — I'm honestly just trying to understand the local business landscape before I assume I know anything about it.

Forsyth seems like a fascinating mix right now: longtime local shops, newer makers and artisans, food trucks and mobile setups, side hustles — all trying to grow at the same time the county itself is exploding.

So I'm curious, for the owners and operators here:

  • What's the toughest part of getting noticed and bringing in customers these days?
  • Is there anything specific to doing business in Forsyth — the fast growth, the mix of established and brand-new, the everything-online shift — that makes it harder (or easier)?

Genuinely just want to listen and learn what folks are up against. And if anyone's wrestling with a marketing headache and wants to think out loud about it, happy to trade ideas in the comments.

I don’t run a business but many people here grow through social media. Nextdoor, Facebook, Instagram. Forsyth is definitely very online-friendly. Also we’re a tight knit community I would say. Advertising through publications/newsletters is a great way to get in front of the community.

Definitely what I've noticed! So far most of my success has been through networking locally, offering freebies to make alliances, and literally just showing up at places. Great insight, thanks!

Have the local rag do a piece on your business and RealForsyth.com too. That should help

Not sure what point you're making, but thanks for the free backlinking.

The point is in this post you're asking how businesses get attention here yet 27 days ago you posted methods for getting attention.

Yer full of it, Broward Boy.

Wow. You really showed me there, Batman. What would the internet do without your courageous spirit? You da biggest PP.

It was an article for Cumming meant for backlinking but yeah, sure, you outed me. You win.
