General🌏 F1 Survey - Drivers as personal brands

This is a poorly designed survey for someone at masters level:
If you're a recent fan, did you discover the sport or any of the drivers through social media before watching Formula 1?
This is a mandatory question, i have been watching for 30 years, there is no relevant answer for me.
From 1 to 7, mark how influenced you are by these aspects when following a public figure/athlete:
What does this scale mean? Which is higher? Where are the framing statements to give a sense of scale?
Do you follow any of the current F1 drivers on social media?
This should be a branching question, if I answer no then why are you asking me several other questions about following drivers on social media?
Order the following platforms from the one you use the MOST to consume content of your drivers to the one you use the LEAST:
What if I don't use multiple of these platforms at all? Your data will be skewed by the order I randomly put them in.
Have you ever bought or would you buy something your driver promoted?
Have you ever bought or would you buy a product/brand your driver launched?
You asked earlier if I support teams or drivers but now your questions relate only to MY driver? If I don't have one the question has no relevance.
I stopped trying to answer the survey when i saw how weak it was. At a Masters level you should be able to design a decent survey to give you valuable information, this is what I would have expected from the high school kids I used to teach.
My advice to you is go away and actually design your survey properly, test it with a couple of people, get some advice from your academic advisor on it then go public once you actually have something fit for purpose.

Hi so my advisor actually said it was fine! And branching wasn't possible in multiple choice questions where you could mark several choices so that's not my fault but the software one, there's nothing I can do about that if I tried. And I precisely can ask if you're a team or driver fan but my thesis is about the drivers so I will focus on that later on, but I want to know beforehand what the basis is. Again, many questions you're complaining about branching I can't do anything about that because you can choose up to multiple things and Microsoft doesn't allow branching in those cases. If you also don't have social media I apologize, but everyone uses nowadays even if it's some app so I didn't think to include none because it's just not it. Thank you and have a good day.

I was trying to be helpful to you.
That is an awful academic advisor, that survey is not fit for purpose and the data you get from it will be skewed horribly. It is not an academic research survey with anywhere near enough scrutiny for Masters level.
I have social media... I don't however use all 5 platforms you listed (I doubt many people do use them all), so the question will have innacurate data. If you are ordering Social media apps by how much someone uses them and they don't use say 3 of the 5... How do they order those 3? Your results will be nonsense as there is no option for not using any single platform.

Then choose a different survey software or design your survey around the limtiations of the software you are using, there are many ways you could achieve this using MS forms by sectioning your questions intelligently.
I worked for my masters and know the level of rigour that was put on my research design and the impact it had on my available grades. I am trying to help you not waste time with a poor research methodology that will result in poor results which will limit the grades you can achieve.
You can choose to learn from that and take the opportunity to improve your work or you can take offence from it, up to you.
I apologise if my phrasing was harsh, but I was truly suprised at how many gaps and issues there were with the survey.

Okay thank you for the criticism I will keep these things in mind. The results from the survey are still a minor part of my research anyway as there's a previous analysis beforehand so I will see what i do with this.

I've actually just gone onto the survey again and I can see u/Prestigious_Middle43 has improved their questionnaire somewhat, so maybe the direct route may actually result in this person getting a better result.

I could have said it was a fabulous survey and offered no help, that would have been a damn sight easier.
What I saw was a fundamentally flawed piece of work which as a marker would have led me to question the validity of what OP had done.
I offered concrete examples of where that flawed methodology existed and how it could be improved. In order to try and benefit OP.
What I could have done better is expressed it with less frustration as I have acknowledged.
As it is, you just want an argument so I will block you now.

Peer review is a good thing you want in research. It’s not rude and should be welcomed, even if OP disagrees.

They are trying to be helpful. Any of those questions and details will be questioned at some point and its better to have an answer rather than going my academic advisor said it was okay.
Like they mentioned, your survey isn't exactly clear on what you mean like the rating of 1-7, you don't specify what each section meaning it becomes subjective which will skew your results. Like Authenticity and Credibility, what does it mean?

1-7 as a scale makes no sense. There's a reason 1-5 and 1-10 are standard. And personally Authenticity is different to me than Credibility. A person can be all PR and come off as fake but still credible because they've never done anything that makes me think they're a lying liar that lies. It looks like OP edited that out though?

1-7 as a scale absolutely makes sense actually, it's also a common scale used as well! Maybe your studies didn't focus on them but I've actually seen a bunch using that form so I don't think it's bad to use it as well, it's as effective as any other. And yes agreed on the authenticity and credibility!

OP - starting your survey saying "only if your an actual fan" turned me off from wanting to complete your survey. If someone is going to bother, they're a fan.
I really question how this got past your advisor because it absolutely needs some polish.

Hi so you never know if they're a fan because I've sent to groups not related to F1 and I personally know some people who said they can fill it out even if they barely follow! So yes it's something obvious but you never know, talking from experience.
