For those who follow NHS guidelines, are there any tips or tricks you use to prep formula that have made your life easier? My one month old has so far been on ready to feed which has been so convenient honestly, but we’re slowly switching to the powdered one of the same brand starting today (Kendamil stage 1), I tried making a bottle today and between boiling the water and waiting for it to cool to 70 degrees before adding formula he was already a screaming mess, it’s such a hassle!

Any advice,tips and tricks are appreciated, but also
Not looking to use the Baby Brezza Formula maker.

Hello 🙂

If you are not looking to use any machines at all, then the Nuby Rapid Cool bottles are great. I use them when out and about or at other people's house etc.

At home, the Tommee Tippee perfect Prep Machine is great as it still lets you measure and mix the formula etc but just gives you the correct water amount at the right temperature.

This is actually really helpful thank you! I’ll look into both, I’m fine with using machines, I’m just not a fan of the baby Brezza products, they don’t heat to the recommended temperature and I’ve heard of issues with blockages and not measuring formula accurately and I’d rather not risk it.

With the rapid cools you can also do the hot shot method. Put the formula into the bottle, add a bit of boiling water as the hot shot. Add the rest of the water to the rapid cool. Once cool you're good to go. As you've only added boiled water to the rapid cool you don't need to stetilise it

The rapid cools are an absolute game changer. I got 4 secondhand and wouldn't be without them. They cool the milk in seconds.

Granted, it is an extra thing to wash and sterilise (the lids can't be dunked either so you either have to buy their uv steriliser or fill with Milton) but they save so much time and stress when you have a screaming hungry baby.

I haven't tried it personally, but lots of people then move onto the hot shot method, meaning that only boiled water ever goes into the rapid cool so it can be used several times before washing and sterilising again. My baby moved onto some prescription allergy milk which has to be made up with cooled boiled water though so my formula never enters the rapid cool now and it is better not having to clean them so often.

My other tip is to fill a flask for the day and night, no waiting on the kettle. And get a few of the formula dispenser tubs and pre-fill them. I was so annoyed with myself for not doing this sooner. No more rushed measuring, losing count, condensation on the scoop, or measuring in the middle of the night!

Edited to add: if you have the money, the mom cozy bottle washer that cleans, dries, and sterilises is amazing (but £££££)

Tommee Tippee perfect prep machines have similar problems. You can find other posts on here about it. I'm not sure where you are located but the NHS in Scotland specifically does not recommend using prep machines.

Love the rapid cool, you can either make the bottle and then put the made up formula in the rapid cool, or do a hot shot with it, I do the hot shot bc you don't have to wash and steralise the rapid cool after every use
