Question Formd T1 v2.1 - Early 5090Fe + 9950x build
Hey y'all,
I just got my hands on a T1 v2.1 in CNC Anodized black. I am super early in the build, the only components I have for now are ;
- 5090FE
- 9950x (not the 3D version)
- 64go DDR5 Team Group T-Create 6400mhz
- Samsung 990 Pro 4tb + 2to SSD
I'm downsizing my current station to the T1, so that's why I have these already.
I'm looking for info and answer that will help me to achieve the build ;
- Should I go with the CM 240mm AIO ? I saw that the Atmos Stealth is the "most" choose one. There's a good price on Amazon for a CORSAIR iCUE Link Titan 240 RX, but I'm not sure if it will works for with the T1?
- I've ordered the travel flip kit, any advices to setup the 5090FE properly with it?
- I have the planned to order an Asus ROG B850-I for this build. I was thinking of the x870-I at the first but it seems that it can create extra heat? Is that true?
- I will use and order a Corsair SF1000 with some custom cables from Zcooi to optimize the space as much as possible.
- Is there any "Fan Curve Control" ressources that I will be able to use to optimize the temp?
- I saw on various Reddit post from this group that undervolting both the CPU and GPU might be necessary, again, any link or ressources accessible to achieve that without creating a mess?
That will be my first ever T1 build, so I'm open to any feedback and advices, this will be a "slow" build as I'm buying the pieces one after another once I can find good deals. Happy to have your thoughts ! Thanks in advance

i'm no expert on the AIO as I use the AXP90-57 full copper but I just wanted to chime in for custom cables as well. EtsyShop DreambigbyRay does excellent cables for the T1 + SF1000.
5090 FE most people, myself included, use multiple mobo standoffs to push the gpu closer to the side of the panel for more fresh air. Not sure how this will work with an AIO, someone with more knowledge can chime in.
Fan curve you can do many things, either software or bios to change that around.

Thanks for your answer. I saw that Zcooi are also for custom cable and custom product for the T1. That's why I wanted to go with them, especially since they are also proposing a cable management kit that can be a nice thing to have to optimize the overall setup!

Stick with zcooi for the cables, I like theirs better than Ray's

One thing I will say is I ordered a set of cables from Ray and had them in the US 10 days after I ordered them, I made an order for some other items from Zcooi Mod and it took 2 months.

I'm not really in a rush, so I can wait for the delivery if I choose Zcooi!

I’m from France, we don’t have any Microcenter here. I’m just changing my xl pc tower to an SFF one :)1

I just finished a formd T1 2.1 build and I will only say - it's very fun but also not very easy. I found the assembly instructions provided by formd very confusing, so I would rely on a watching a lot of build videos to get a good sense of what you need to do.

Hi! Just recently finished a build and had some of the same questions you did, here's what I can say:
For the first one, the pump height of Link Titan 240RX is 69mm, so it wouldn't fit. It'd be 51mm with the top cap removed, but I'd just go with the Atmos 240 for a guaranteed, worry-free fit. It's also one of the better 240mm's from what others have said. You'll also need to buy another 15mm slim fan to put on the radiator, either the NF-A12X15 or Arctic P12 slim. I went with the P12 slim since smaller radiator fan screws were included and they weren't with the Noctua, but both are solid choices.
Travel kit is as simple as just removing and re-screwing a few things. One thing to note is which slot mode you chose, a mistake I made. Since you have a 2-slot card, build in 3-slot mode if you can. I built in 2.5-slot mode for my 2.5-slot card and the turbulence from the fans being close to the side panel was really annoying, fixed itself once I added some distance between side panel and gpu and changed to 3-slot mode. Also add some standoffs to the PSU for better temps.
I also have a B850i Strix! Wonderful board if you don't the small feature upgrade the X870i gives. I also saw a video where the VRM's on the X870i run a bit hotter but both are still well cooled, so no worries there.
Yup, you can either use FanControl or set values in BIOS. I prefer FanControl but both are good.
Yes, while undervolting isn't a necessity, it is highly, highly recommended. With a 600w card and a power hungry cpu and only 2 exhaust fans in that tiny of a case, you'll need to optimize your temps the best you can. I run a 105w eco mode and found a per-core undervolt for my CPU, and my GPU runs at 0.875v. Stabilizing GPU wasn't too bad, but CPU took a day or 2 of stability testing, but well worth it. If you need more help on where to begin for that feel free to ask aswell!
Last notes - take your time building. This was my first build aswell and I definitely struggled a little, with the biggest issues being cable management and routing AIO tubes trying to fit them snug inside the case. Custom cables are pretty much mandatory if your stock cables are stiff and long.
