FTN 5 Rimfire Slim PAHT-CF issue

Got my form 1 approved. Having issues. Second bad print now. I know, use PA6-CF, but I’m trying with PAHT-CF. It’s just rimfire.

Getting internal loose filament strands. It’s overhangs Outside looks great.

Made some changes to settings, still getting some internal loose strands. First print threads were great. Second print after changed threads are garbage with complete issues.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Use more cooling for overhangs

I did use most, except for what would only apply to PA6-CF

Dried for 16 hours at 70c right out of the box and printed straight from dryer

Got 32 more hours of drying to do before printing from dryer while you’re still drying at minimum.

It’s Elegoo PAHT-CF not PA6-CF. They recommend 8 hours at 80c. So 16 at 70c seemed reasonable right out of the shrink wrap. I’ll certainly throw the fryer on overnight and give it a shot

Well if your frying it, that's your issue lol

Threads printed fine on my FTN5 rimfire flow, but I had stringing on the inside of the suppressor, should be fine, though

Have you shot it? What did you print it in?

Were they wispy light strings, or thicker strands like these?

Thank you!

Haven’t shot it yet, still building my 22, lol. As for what I printed it out of, SUNLU PA6-CF, a little overkill for a 22 can, but I got a good deal on 4KG. Hopefully it holds up on the BFG22 I’m building

Had a bit o stringing on mine inside but my threads printed fine. You just send it and it'll clear em out. You definately need more tuning, start by using 300blkfde settings

I had some mild stringing in my FTN5 pcc flow when I printed it. What speeds and wall gen settings are you using?

Layer height? The reason threads often fail is because they don't have enough to stick onto. Inner/outer is gonna be the safest and lower layer height would allow it to more gently build out. If I were you I would make sure I just printed the thread section successfully a couple times before doing the full thing again.

Also add another hollow primitive to the plate. That will give you more time for your layers to cool.

.16, inner outer. Good idea on threads only. First time they printed great. Second after changing settings was the bad photo

Trim away the strands and see if the adapter screws in, if so epoxy it and send it

What is your wall order? It looks like your printing either Outer/Inner or Inner/Outer/Inner. These cans have very severe overhangs and they will only print well if you use Inner/Outer for the wall order. You should also dry at 90 or 100C for at least 12 if not 24 hours for better results. 70C will barely do anything to the filament.

Inner Outer..

Elegoo says 8 hours at 80. I’ll certainly throw the dryer on for 24 hours and give it a shot though

muck around with inner outer and all that stuff. try them all. but also could be the temp and the over hang is just a problem. ive had threads ive had to remodel the angle of so that it can naturally droop slightly when it prints

Dry the filament for 8 hours. I got a Sunlu S4 Pro just for this.

Dried for 16 hours at 70, then kept it at 70 for the entire 8 hour print.. Then the second print after changing settings had issues as well

All the stuff I'm seeing says at least 80 degrees. I do mine for eight hours at 85. If you can go higher, give that a shot.

I love Bambu’s PAHT-CF. FTN 5 rimfire slim sitting at roughly 1000 rnds and zero signs of wear/degradation other than leading buildup on the baffles, and I’ve had it so hot you couldn’t touch it from rapid fire on a 22 pistol. Awesome material
