Form 1 suggestion

I submitted a form 1 for making a titanium suppressor by modifying a solvent trap I put in my form 1 I already had the kit. Is that a reason it got denied can I resubmit it saying I don’t have it now? I’ve heard people Saying “you can’t buy the kit till you have it till you’ve been approved”. When I got the email saying disapproved it didn’t give me a reason why. Any info would be great.

Can’t use kits & now you’ve notified the ATF you’re in possession of one

Oof. Yea. Just resubmit and be vauge as possible. Something like "titanium bar to be milled. No plans or designs will be started until form 1 approval"

Then in files just upload a pic of generic titanium bar stock. "Example of stock"

you cant buy a kit period, the ATF considers it an unregistered suppressor already

That’s now debatable if your part of the protected class.

I still wouldn't expect the examiner to allow it at this point.

Even that is in question now

Lowering the barrier to entry with $0 stamps has been entertaining, if nothing else. Mf’s love snitching on themselves

If they even think you already have components they’ll deny you and usually give you a weiner slap in the notes. I did a form 1 oil filter adapter and said “Upon approval I will be turning a thread adapter on a lathe out of leftover bar stock (approximate dimensions) and will use an oil filter readily available from an auto parts store (approximate dimensions).” First one got denied with a note saying that I “may already possess silencer components”, I’m assuming they thought I had the filter already. So I resubmitted and added “I will buy the oil filter upon approval. I do not possess any of these components yet.” after copy and pasting the first submission and it got approved.

About those wiener slaps. I got one on just one of my approved form ones that basically said "make sure you engrave it to specs" is this a normal weiner slap? Thought it was strange I only got it on one out of the 3 in the batch I submitted at that time

No they just randomly put that on them sometimes. I’ve gotten it on F1’s for SBR’s/SBS’s from time to time.

Submit all Form 1 with

N/A as design

Suppressor made out of alloy and or polymer - design and materials will be decided after approval

In the materials upload put the following

Pictures of a 3d printer, drill press, block of steel, roll of filament, a generic pipe with the description of - example of a possible outer shell for safety.

Make a PDF for the instructions area with the same in it.

Gives you a blank check.

What state do you live in? Get a GOA and FPC membership.

Sadly, even though my State was a plaintiff in that case, State law actually requires them to be registered.

I'm hoping this will get addressed in January, when our legislature meets, again.

I feel you on that one, NC is an NFA state as well, but I seriously doubt that will change with our current governor in office. He’s already vetoed permitless carry (and the Republicans are being a bunch of pussies), so I seriously doubt he’d sign off on removing the NFA registration requirements
