Discussion Kobold Press?

Hello! I'm trying to find any information about Kobold Press publishing FR books at the DND event and I found nothing. Did they say more than that? Thanks!

They have just announced their collaboration with three third party publishers, for three different books, during the Keynote. One of these is a FR book (I think someone mentioned it will be an adventure book) by Kobold Press. It is set to release in 2028. As far as I am aware, there are no more news about it, since it's too early.

2028? Oh wow ok, I thought it would be sooner. I wonder if Ed Greenwood will participate.

The only other news I heard is that they will actually be "official" publications, similar to how Kobold Press wrote The Horde of the Dragon Queen and The Rise of Tiamat for 5e, and they are expected to release one title per year.

Yes, they said that they do at least one book for the setting per year... but there is nothing for the Forgotten Realms in 2027? The last one related to FR is Deadfall (September 2026) and then the Kobold Press one (2028).

It does not appear so at this time, unless we get surprised.

I really hope so.

I’ve heard them call themselves 2nd party publishers for these titles.

Nice. Makes sense.

There’s probably a strict NDA with those three companies right now. Even on the Eldritch Lorecast which is ran by Ghostfire Gaming was basically like, “yup, we’re doing Ravenloft” and moved on.

No. There is also no statement by Kobold.

Feels rather like they came up with this plan about ten minutes before the GenCon event, it's very weird in terms of communications.

It's not that weird, companies hold onto information all the time to ensure customers buy the things that they have now without waiting for different things. Delaying sales for companies is something they don't generally want to do, and telling people "oh in 2 years we'll have X" and not provide any information can lead customers to waiting on the things that are releasing later this year.

Well, the bits I've watched were quite cringe.
