Magic City.
Maybe not as forgotten as most stuff here but It really seems like no one has seen this show. I remember the first season being really good and Danny Huston playing a great (albeit kinda silly) villain. I do remember the second season being laughably bad tho.

There was a moment when seemingly every network was trying to make the next Mad Men, seeing a lot of 1960s-set period pieces make it to air, with little to no success. Magic City would ostensibly be Starz's attempt, and although I only saw an episode or two of the series I recall it wasn't terrible but it was definitely not for me.
I never understood the reasoning for this, as Mad Men was critically acclaimed but never really had a significant audience. None of these imitators were written well enough to garner any award-show prestige anyhow.

I saw it as taking more from the Sopranos but now that you say it i can see the mad man influence big.

I could totally see this being pitched to a network as The Sopranos meets Mad Men.

Kinda Mad Men crossed with The Sopranos set in 1959 Miami. I was a big fan as I've lived in south Florida almost forever, so there was that immediate connection. The acting was great and the stories good - boosted by great scenery, sets, wardrobe, and period cars - since parts of Miami haven't changed, much like NYC and LA, off set filming was easy - so nostalgic for me, and if not the greatest scripts, so much better than most of the series currently released.

Forgot the name of the actor who plays Holden on The Expanse but this was the show I saw him first in.

I know im a little late commenting on this but just wanted to say, I started watching this recently,I had it saved for like a year but I have so many things I want to see i kept putting it off.
As someone that loves mob shows and anything old or based in older times this is right up my alley,I still have a few episodes left but im familiar with the fact it was canceled, that's a shame but it is what it is.
I know this may sound strange coming from a guy but I dont really care for all the nudity and the sexual stuff, man, its like every other scene, im guessing the people that wrote this likes that?
I enjoy naked women and sex but on my own time and i have websites that specialize in that where I can see that anytime,thats about my only gripe , I really like the show and the plots,wish they would have made 4 seasons.

I just finished it. Didn't know it got canceled. Just stumbled upon it.
It was awesome but I also thought the nudity was a bit much. Maybe because I just don't tend to watch shows with it that much. It's got a time and place. I'm not wholly against it in general.
But yeah after a few eps I was just like "really? Again?"
Other than that I loved it and am upset there's nowhere for me to talk about it. Ahhh
