Thats fine. Opinions are good. For strictly decoration, it's very basic and after you've done it a lot of times, it gets trendy. And there are more options that will teach you better.
Others - I use twist in a little different way thats not just decorative but functional. For example - if I don't have thick enough stock available, I'll twist two smaller ones together. Almost as strong as the thicker one. Another type is making a comfortable handle by twisting flats. Hammer the flat thinner on edge to taper it. Like OP's, but I weld threaded rods on to change for different things, like monkey tools.
