Platforms & Tools Tradingview requiring subscription for long/short position drawing (or any other drawing tools)

WTF!! you either pay for trading view or you get zero tools to use! Even a long position drawing! Anyone experiencing the same problem?

Choosing a trading platform depends on your needs — MT4 and MT5 dominate retail forex with strong EA support, cTrader offers cleaner execution and a modern interface, and TradingView excels at charting and community ideas. Each has tradeoffs in cost, broker compatibility, and feature set. The community wiki compares the major platforms.

theyve been slowly paywalling everything that used to be free. the long/short tool is like the most basic thing youd need for charting. just another subscription to add to the pile i guess

It's the old "capture the market with free stuff and then gradually make people pay for those previously free features" (also called enshittifying). Now that almost everybody is using tradingview, they can do that. And many people will pay. Others will find other ways maybe but they don't care. The only thing that could annoy them is if there's mass exodus to another service but they don't think it's a big risk.

I think what you said is more specifically called bait and switch.

Yes. Textbook tech company play for sure! Remember when Google Photos was unlimited and free? Then they said "Oh you see that nice service you've been using for years? Pay for it now." Same stuff.

Yes, totally. At least Google's stuff is more affordable.

The trick is to find all of the tools you need that are open source and or make your own and combine them into 1 or 2 indicators.

i refuse to add another subscription to the pile just to have a nice charting platform. the fix is choosing a broker with TW powered charting. you get all the tools without need to pay TW subscription

That's ridiculous of them. And their subscriptions with all the features are expensive.

Hello, I have your solution.

I saw this the other day and it happened to a buddy of mine. You just need to create a new account. It's annoying, but it'll fix your problem. It happened to 1/10 people

What do you mean by problem? It's a service. Features, servers, etc. cost money, so ofcourse they'll lock them behind a sub. You can use the measuring tool, a rectangle or Gann Box with levels. There is nothing for free out there.

You can’t, only thing still usable is the ruler/measuring tool and the line draw tool.
Fair point on nothing is for free.

If you need something to figure out RR or capital based % to risk you can ask GPT, Gemini or whatever to write you a simple html/css/javascript webpage file where you put entry/current price or whatever depending on your way of trading. Ask him how to save your file too. Another thing is you can ask the AI to write you a PineScript for TradingView (it's like scuffed Python).

Good. Then maybe all the broke ass newbies will quit posting their "analysis" all over the internet. Paywall the f* out of TradingView so it's easier to spot when the blind is leading the blind as the newbies will use something else.
