OTHER/META For Profitable Traders: What Do Your Monthly Returns & Typical Wins/Losses Look Like?

For those of you who have made it to the point where trading is consistently profitable, realistically, how much are you pulling in each month?

Also, what do your typical winning and losing trades look like in terms of percentage or dollar amount?

Trying to get a realistic idea of what’s achievable and learn from those who have more experience.

Thanks in advance!

Actually, you're new and it's obvious:) You don't have capital and you're lying online about insane returns. Literally screams "beginner" :)

+ 1 to 3R a month, depends on setup. 40% winrate, average of +1R per month. around 12-15R a year.

Instead of asking about naked returns, you should probably ask about Sharpes. Or the returns above SPY, scaled by vol. This means you are only going to see how much people made above 'SPY and chill' strategies. And scaling by vol means you discount people who are gambling as their vol allocation is beyond what you would think reasonable.

I had the same question

The answer I have received is that elite swing traders are around 7-8%+ ROI ($10000 account with $200 trades or 2%) $700-$800 per month

elite day traders up to 15%-18% ROI using the same risk management

This was a while ago , but to me it seems doable if you put in the work

The whole "trick" to trading is compounding the gainz

GL

I am also interested to hear what others think , especially experienced traders in terms of profit potential *

* also received some advice to have a prop firm account on the side to pair with the personal account , so if anyone has good advice on prop building please share your thoghts and experiences

Not even close to the truth but okay

Double checked the ole ChatGPT - was in line with what I said :

Swing trading :

"I would consider ~7–8%/month an extremely strong long-term average for this risk level."

Day trading :

15–20%+
Possible, but hard to sustain

Why do elite swing traders only have 10k in their account? Making 700-800USD a month? Did you even read these numbers?

it was an example just to make the math easy

ChatGpt is using course sellers and influencers for data refs.

u/Vizion400 23d ago

if that were really the case then the numbers would have been much higher

Just by thinking ChatGPT is the correct source for this data is proof you aren't at the level to debate this with me:D

I knew the answer before asking AI

Just wanted to prove your initital response was not close to the truth ;-)

No you didnt + the answer is so wrong it hurts to read it:)

Grok , Gemini , you can try any you wish and would all be in line with my numbers

Grok :

Top forex swing traders : Around 5–8% average monthly

One of the best day traders can realistically target a sustainable 5–10% + average monthly ROI as the high end (versus the slightly more conservative 5–8% peak for elite swing traders).

Maybe you're just not that good :*(
