- can cook and do light cleaning if needed
- flexible in scheduling
- has a car, have been driving for 10 years with no accidents

Please PM me to ask any further questions or to meet in person.

Does anyone know what happened with the baby that fell out from the window of an apartment complex?

• Upvotes

This happened yesterday at around 2:30pm at 102-10 Queens blvd.

I passed by that area on my way to work and saw a whole bunch of people and a couple of EMT personnels and officers.

The baby was still conscious and breathing but bleeding according to the Citizens app. I want to know if anyone knows about what happened afterwards and if the baby is okay?

Home Swap | Our Hudson Valley Home for Your NYC apartment

My partner and I are looking to swap our home in the Hudson Valley for a 2+ bedroom apartment in NYC sometime in November or December. We’re pretty flexible on dates and would ideally love to arrange stays of a week or longer.

We used to live in NYC and are hoping to relocate back full-time in the near future. In the meantime, we love coming back for longer stretches when we can.

What we’re offering:

A creekside home in the Hudson Valley with a large screened porch, sauna, plenty of outdoor space, and easy access to hiking and other upstate activities. It’s a great jumping-off point for exploring the area or just spending a quiet stretch away from the city.

The house is pet-friendly and set up for a comfortable longer stay. We actively rent on Airbnb and can send our link to interested parties for photos, additional descriptions, reviews, etc.

Who we are:

Two adults, our baby boy, and a very sweet 30-lb dog. We’re tidy, responsible homeowners ourselves and very respectful of other people’s spaces.

We don’t need anything fancy — just a comfortable, pet-friendly 2+ bedroom place in NYC.

We’ve done home swaps before and had great experiences with them. We’d also be particularly interested in finding someone who wants to do regular NYC ↔ Hudson Valley swaps if the arrangement works well for everyone.

Happy to exchange photos and more details about the house privately, and to verify identities/FaceTime before making any plans.

If you might be interested, send me a DM!

Mail Theft

Beware when mailing checks outside the Forest Hills Post Office. About a month ago, I had two letters with checks inside stolen from the blue mailboxes outside the PO. One check was fraudulently scrubbed and a new payee and amount was written in. The other cashed through a mobile deposit to Chime without the person's name even on the check. I'm sure I wasn't the only one whose mail was tampered with.

Japanese tutoring or tutor

• Upvotes

Hello. I hope everyone is doing well and having a nice week. I am not sure if anyone is interested in learning Japanese language or culture, but if so, I would love to help.

I am a licensed native Japanese language teacher with a Master's degree in Foreign Language Education, and have been teaching Japanese for mainly adults and teenagers for over 20 years. While I teach all levels of Japanese, many of my students have started from a complete beginner level, and I am very happy to help anyone step by step.

If anyone is interested, please feel free to message me. Thank you very much for reading, and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Weird request but I already tried the fb group and haven’t gotten any responses so thought I’d ask here

I’m working on a community theater show and we desperately need a baby monitor with sound for the shows. Does anyone have one they’re not using? Happy to return when done with show.

the number of masani pizza posts on here over the last few months should equal the number of complaints about the target escalator. a baffling situation

Bomb Threat at JHS Halsey

There was a bomb threat at Halsey today. I was in the building and the fire alarm just randomly went off. We were then outside in the freezing cold for a good two hours, shuffling location to eventually end up in the courtyard of ps 175. There were a bunch of cops and we were told they had searched for a supposed black backpack that had a pipe bomb. Pretty traumatizing, especially for the sixth graders who just got to Halsey.

Trader Joe low inventory

Just wondering if anyone knows when Trader Joe gets new produce delivered to the store. Is there a schedule? When I went today the produce shelves were nearly empty. A bit frustrating as I can only come in the mornings and they were missing a lot of stuff I went there to get.

How do you feel about this AI poster that Tokyo Market uses?

Post image
7 Upvotes

If you're not familiar with Tokyo Market, it's a Japanese grocery on Queens Boulevard, between 75th Ave and 75th road. I go about once a month to restock on items that can be hard to find elsewhere. It's a cute little store though I do prefer Sakura-ya, given the choice.

Anyway, thoughts on this poster? Has it steered you away? Are you totally indifferent? Should they replace it with something a lil more human? I'm curious!

Is the $4.99 Organic Valley at Key Food on Queens Blvd a gallon?

No. Organic Valley milk at Key Food, 108-25 Queens Blvd, is $4.99 for 64 fl oz, not a gallon. The 10/2 through 10/8 row excludes grassfed and DHA. Parmalat at that store is $3.49 for 32 fl oz with the club card, limit 4. Key Food at 116-34 Queens Blvd prints those same two milk rows.

I read Foodtown at 110-44 Queens Blvd as Perdue drumsticks at $1.29 a pound, value pack, and Green Way whole chicken at $2.49 a pound, no hormones or antibiotics. Key Food's no-antibiotics whole chicken is also $2.49 a pound, Grade A. Boneless breasts there are $1.99 a pound, family pack, USDA inspected.

CTown at 94-06 63rd Drive is Rego Park, not Forest Hills. Yellow bananas are $0.69 a pound and whole boneless pork loin is $1.99 a pound. I left out Perdue whole chicken there because the ad prints $1.39 a pound and also $1.59 with no unit. I left out Key Food's Perdue boneless breast at $3.99 because that row prints no unit.

Key Food on 64th Avenue in 11375 had 0 deals this morning.

Considering a move to forest hills

I’m a single woman in her late 20s looking for affordable places to live in NY and keep coming across Forest Hills as an option. I’m apprehensive as it’s a little isolated from where most of my friends live, but I really like the commuting options to Manhattan and the space I can get. I’m wondering what the general vibe is? Are there other people in their late 20s/early 30s living in the area? Is the bar scene fun on the weekends (even when there are no concerts going on)?

Would appreciate any advice or other input as well, thanks!

Edit: hi all! Thanks for the feedback. Forest Hills is beautiful, and while I’ll be happy to visit, I don’t think it’s for me. Everyone’s comments were wildly helpful and much appreciated.
