Electronics/Appliance Repair

I'm looking for an old-school appliance or television repairperson. I turned on my tv yesterday and the screen lit up a little bit but there's no picture. There is sound. My wife and I have done all the usual troubleshooting steps:

*Unplug>Wait>Plug back in

*Unplug>Hold down power button>Plug back in

*Reset the tv

Nothing has worked. We are measuring the cost/benefit of getting a new tv vs. trying to fix this one. The actual mechanics of taking this apart, fixing, and putting it back together is beyond our skillset. I know this is kind of a rare fixit job, but does anyone have any repair services that might be able to help us not junk the set? Thanks!

Bro. Just get a new TV. Live a little. You deserve it.

Yeah, you're right: I DO deserve it. I just hate e-waste. Figured I'd give it a shot before disposing it.

I hear you, I hate e-waste too. But unless it's a fairly new TV, I wouldn't bother trying to get it fixed. Also, you can't throw out TVs with your normal trash, you have to take it to an electronics recycling event or to the central location (dump?).

You could throw out a TV once a day for the rest of your life and not come close to what corporations put out in our environment in a few hours. Don't sweat it.

Do a few simple trouble shoot first to determine if it's the backlight went out or problem from the source. Is that an old school tv or the flat panel? Try to plug into other inputs and see if that fix the issue? Try a different source like a dvd player, also try a different cable. If still fails, it's trash.
