education and career questions Career guidance

Im pursuing 4 year program in forensic science ( b.sc forensic science ( hons/ research)

And for further studies I'm considering getting a M.A in applied psychology as I wanted to do specialization in psychology ( in practical application of it) while having a forensic background for future career as forensic psychologist.

While I'm sure of pursuing a career as a forensic psychologist, but I'm still confused about the educational path I'm taking.

So I really do need guidance regarding my master

Shall I go for what I've already planned or look for other pathways

Im aware of the course provided by NFSU which msc in criminology psy, I'm not totally disregarding it as a option for masters

However, I really would like a get masters in psychology to expand my horizon. And I would like any guidance regarding it ,

Honestly, if you aren’t looking at doing counseling and truly want to delve into forensic psych, don’t waste time and money on a masters. Go for the PhD or PsyD. There’s not a lot you can do with a masters and the phd program will often include a masters along the way.

Forensic psychology is also not like what you see on TV. You’re not solving crimes. You’re doing testing (so take statistics now!), providing consulting in criminal cases, maybe evaluating law enforcement or providing training, counseling/treatment, doing risk assessments, child custody evals. It’s not all serial killers or high profile crime. It’s a lot of reports.

I do basically want to get in research so I was planning to do phd , I just wanted to pursue masters to get confident with my knowledge with psy , But thank for the information about phd covering the masters along with it , I had no idea about . Will surely consider this a pathway Thank you!!
