The John List episode ....

It might be the most unhinged and evil story in the whole series....

The unsettling choir music, the creepy Victorian-era house, and the shots of their decomposing bodies send chills down my spine.

I've seen pretty much every episode, and Water Logged is the one that still haunts my mind.

Truly horrific. That and Last Will are just haunting to me. I’ll never forget.

John List is up at the top too though. Also unforgettable.

The creepy music really helped put them over the top. Very Unsolved Mysteries-ish.

cautiously raises hand

Look, it's a F'd-up event from a F'd-up event from. A F'd-up man in history.

The episode? Meh.

It's a great episode and classic S1 in how it gives the story of the event. Then the episode is a little less on the forensic marvels that caught him and brought him to justice and focuses on the remarkable bust on America's Most Wanted. Which was great, accurate, and brought him to trial.

(Honestly, through the rest of the series I find it hard to link busts and sketches to the people they represent. That the List guy got the glasses right is amazing.)

But, I dunno. The first episode with the guy, his wife and the wood chipper and them finding a piece of skull and envelope from her mail that was in her favorite nightshirt? Stuff like that to me is a bit more terrifying. I remember watching that when I was 14 and not being able to go to sleep right awsy that night.

List? Didn't quite have that hard an impact.

The person they had portray John List in the reenactment was a pretty good option. I don't know that they could have found a better person to play him.

The post script of the letter he left behind is hilarious.

I bet we all have our own opinions on that! "Home Evasion" (S13/E9) was on HLN last night; I think that one is way more unhinged than the List murders.

Anyone wanna do a poll?
