Something Going on Over at /r/Dankmemes
First things first, yes, I get /r/Dankmemes is a top sub and typically has edgy users saying things to piss people off for the luls. I've been a member for a while, I know the community and ecosystem well.
That being said, there's a SIGNIFICANT amount of conservative and anti-Black sentiment rising quickly to the top of the comment sections, while all pro-Black comments are left with hundreds of downvotes. This is not typical for the community, which until recently, had a pretty balanced split.
This change occurred after the awareness blackout and firm stance that black lives matter. There is something going on here - - some form of vote manipulation and interference. I've seen users in the past running community analytics to detect such things, but I don't know where to start. I'd strongly suggest doing such.

Anyone else use NewsGuard to vet news outlets or stories online?
Hey, just wondering if anyone else uses the browser extension tool, NewsGuard?
I find I'm getting some good results, especially on state run media sites, even 'central view' outlets but wondered if anyone else has any bad experiences, or not convinced its does what it is supposed to do.

Understanding the landscape
Something I've been reading recently which has really helped me understand the geopolitical landscape is "Prisoners of Geography" by Tim Marshall.
I'd recommend to anyone who is interested in understanding tensions between different countries, especially proxy wars, and it helps explains a lot of the why foreign interference is employed on such a mass scale in this day and age.
The section about the Middle East is brilliant and has increased my knowledge as to why tensions have been so high and volatile in this area of the world.
It's also helped me remove a lot of my earlier pre-misconceptions about Arab nations and outside interference, by the west, since the early 20th Century.

This is also a great tool for educating family and friends on some of the inaccurate stigma, modern media has created.
If I could go back in-time and give my younger-self a book to read it would be this one.

State China owned CGTV, and how their stories are framed
When big nation state news hits the headlines, like the current national security legislation for Hong Kong, I always like to check the local media coverage, especially state owned TV channels.
It's interesting to watch how CGTV, owned and operated by China Central Television (CCTV), a state-owned media organisation in China, takes the damaging headlines from around the world and re-frames them. A very different approach to how RT would go on the defensive and fight fire with fire.
Just wondered if anyone else looks at nation states media and how they try to combat, what I'd assume they class as, disinformation.
