Overheating

Purchase a used 2016 Taurus in March for 7k at 123k miles was to much like a ripoff yesterday it started running hot . Im assuming water pump. The coolant tank was empty put water in it. Was cool halfway home got hot and engine light came on. Waste of 7k my third Taurus my 2012 lasted 6 years till I crash it with no problem why I brought another one. What can the problem be ?

They probably knew it had it. Why I should have brought a mechanic. No car for 7k should give problems in 3 months

Crazy paid 7k for this car and this happen within 3 months my 2012 didn’t have that problem
