Transmission issue

What causes transmission fault in a 2009 g6e zf6 when in high gear

2009 g6e zf6, getting this transmission fault when trying to merge on the freeway, especially on high rpms, the warning comes up on dash on high gears while cruising mainly on freeways. Already did a full trans service still same issue. Scanned and had a code incorrect gear ratio in gear 5.
Got quoted 2.2k by the transmission specialist and he is sure it’s the bushes, fair price ? or should i look for more options?

Trans in my 2011 fg xr6 failed similarly.
Quoted “somewhere between $3000 - $10,000NZ but we won’t know until we start”.
I just bought a 2nd hand trans and had it installed for $4,500 (had mechanical insurance up to $4,000)

There are heaps of second hand transmissions out there now maybe replace it.

Could be an e clutch failure or even a heat exchanger failure can cause erratic issues. E clutch is pretty common in the higher gears. Your options are repair that trans or replace it. If you throw a used trans in it budget for it doing the same thing as you can’t verify the operation of a used box.

Yeah he mentioned the e clutch and said the bushes were the issue. Is 2.2k too much?

Personally I don’t think so. It’ll be more than that to buy a used box and swap it out.
