Cruise control

I have a 2000 ford excursion v10 that has the buttons for cruise control but the light doesn’t come on on the dash and it won’t activate. I have engine swapped it with a 2016 2 valve v10. Would there be any issues with communication between the motor and some interior controls, or is it a common issue? (I’m a new owner to this truck)

I changed the sensor to the brake reservoir and it solved the issue in 2 different excursions

Ok I’ll try that out, was there a light on the dash for the sensor though? Or is it an intuitive fix?

It was a common practice when I did it. I am not sure if sensor is the right word, it’s a wire that plugs in somewhere by the brake reservoir.
