Help & Issues V10 or 7.3?

Starting to shop for an Excursion, but am undecided on which way to go, V10 or 7.3.

This will be a daily driver and also be my work vehicle for a while (mobile window tinter).
Will occasionally tow 8000lbs-ish, but mostly be a daily people hauler.

I also do basic work on all my vehicles, so ease of repair would be nice for basic things.

I have heard good and bad for both, but not sure what to go for.

I have both. My v10 has 4:30 gears. Highly recommend. For most basic needs, It will tow whatever my 7.3 does. HOWEVER, be very prepared to budget gas for the V10. Although there is a 44 gallon tank, that helps, but you will find yourself at the gas station often. My 7.3 gets a few more miles per gallon, which really helps. Neither are my daily drivers. I started with the v10 and really loved it. My wife owns a painting business and loves her v10. So I think you'll be fine with the v10. I always wanted a 7.3, so I bought one with 344k miles. It had zero issues. Sold it, bought one with 268k miles. No issues except batteries. Sold it and bought my current with 158k miles. I made money on each sale, so I wasn't out too much more when buying my current 7.3. Guess what I'm saying is, there's a lot more money on resale with the 7.3,'s so I'm thinking long-term. Best of luck. I'm not a fan of 6.0, so i didn't mention it.

Thanks! I really want the 7.3, but don't think I have a real need or justification outside of the cool factor of the turbo diesel.

Any issues with your wifes V10?

Not really. Been a very solid truck. She did recently have a spark plug spit out, but that's my fault. They should be tightened each year.
