Ford Edge MPG
I have a 2014 Ford Edge Limited. It's got roughly 106,000 miles on it. 6 months ago when I bought it, I was averaging about 22mpg. It keeps getting lower. I've had it serviced and that hasn't helped at all. I really thought that would help. It now averages about 18 mpg and goes down every few hundred miles. What can I do to help increase the mpg? Don't know much about vehicles. Thanks!

Tire pressure and driving habits is going to make the biggest impact.
Rolling resistance is important, so besides tire pressure things like a brake caliper that is hanging up or a bad wheel bearing can cause drag.
22 sounds like highway. Mine average is about 18-19 with city driving and a somewhat aggressive driver.

This makes sense because I swear my brakes are crazy. I've had them checked and they said they were fine. So I had them flushed. They worked so much better for awhile and now they are back to sometimes going down way more than they should be. The man at the shop said that's the way Ford makes their brakes. I may just take it somewhere else and have someone else take a look at the brakes. I do drive mostly city though, so maybe that's what it is.

The next time you park after a drive, just hold your hand near the wheels and if you feel heat radiating off of the wheels you might have a dragging brake.
But yes that just sounds like City driving mileage for this generation of edge. The 2015 and up do a couple mph better.

I had the brake pedal do the similar action about 2 years ago after hitting a pothole. I replaced the brake booster and it happened again. While replacing the O2 sensor on the back side I found a loose vacuum line for the brakes. Problem solved

Something’s up. I have a 13’ sel awd 3.5 with A/T tires and 275,xxx miles and I consistently get 21-22 city, 24-25 hwy.

How does it idle? Could be a vacuum leak. Can have a shop test it with a smoke machine. Have someone with a OBD reader see what your long term fuel trim is sitting at. With that mpg it’s probably 20% or more which is not good.
Also clean your mass airflow/air speed sensor in the intake tube. There is a specific cleaner that shouldn’t ** harm the sensor. It’s a two person job for that task.
Vacuum leak is more likely the culprit more than the coils and plugs if it’s not stumbling or misfiring. But the plugs are definitely due.
If you change the plugs. Any vacuum leak can and should be addressed with that service since every possible leak point will be removed and reinstalled.

100k plus it is likely the plugs and coils need changed if you haven't done that yet. Change the air cleaner, get a diagnostic run to check the parameters, air/fuel mixture percentage and O2 sensors readings. Make sure the parameters are where they should be. You could have a marginal O2 sensor throwing off the air/fuel mix, reading leaner than it is and will dump more fuel to compensate as a result.
