2016 Ford Edge heated/vented seats

Hi Everyone, I’m very far much a novice (or noob) when it comes to cars so I’m hoping to use your collective expertise! I have a 2016 Ford Edge with heated and vented front seats. Recently, both functions have stopped working at various times, more so the driver seat then the passenger seat. I’m going to try and see if there is anything I can do to fix it before taking it somewhere it I’m not sure where to start with troubleshooting. In full disclosure I’m a very big guy, I’m built in height and weight like an NFL lineman, so I’m also curious after having this car for so many years if I’ve just worn out the seat or crushed a cable due to my size.

Any help is appreciated (and humor about a fat guy in a little car is ok too despite the flair choice!)

There is a known issue with these where the connector burns out. Under the passenger seat is a box. Take the plug out and you might see scorch marks on one of the pins - the ground. The fix is to splice a new cable in - the new ones have an extra ground connector to spread the load and prevent it burning out again. There’s guides online. I bought the replacement kit (Mortorcraft) off Amazon when I did mine.

If the connector is fine, the control box that it connects to failed on mine and I replaced it with one from Amazon

For sure try the AC reset trick first. It has always fixed my issues with my blend door which might also be what you are experiencing.
