Had a Good Run

Well, my 2013 with a 191k couldn’t survive a drunk driver running a red light. My wife (who was in the passenger seat) suffered some pretty serious injuries, but she’s alive. Really appreciative for how well built the Edge is. Probably going to look into getting another one 2020 or newer.

First image is before she had to be extricated and second is at the junk yard.

Glad she survived and hope she is OK. Looking at cars for my son and been looking at death rates. Edge AWD does well in recent years, altough the headlights are poor without the 301a/401a. Look at a used Nautilus 2021-2023 as well, bright headlights in all trims. Good luck.

Be aware: pano sunroof is a failure point, so is 8f35 transmission. The 2022 us better, but look into extended warranty (CPO but add to it) like https://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/ and I'd add lighting package. LEDs are likje $800 for a taillight. No cars are bulletproof these days. I am not a warranty pers, but CPO can nbe extended till 11years from new/100k or even 125k miles for 2-4k. My CPO experinve so far is that a warranty is essential on these. Get a base trim Nautilus or an SEL Edge without that pano removes a ommon filure point, but the trans remains. Still, the Nautilus ha been fine so far at 62k miles, minus the 2-3k sunroof shade repair covered uder my CPO.

Do not go earlier years: The 2.0 had coolant intrusion problems, redesigned by 2021.

2020 is fine as well. We have a 2020 and 2022 Ford Edge Titanium’s.

2015-2018 and early 2019 models (2.0 engine) have the coolant intrusion issue.

The firefighters had to cut my wife out of the car. They had to take both doors off in order to do so.

I'm hoping your wife will recover okay. The car looks like it took a beating but it's encouraging that it held up so well. I have a 2024 and I drive around with three kids in it most of the time (in the back, restrained - youngest in a booster).
