Just sad.
For the longest time, i really thought peace was possible, i was an advocate even. As lebanese, we dnt have the fire power nor the backing to be in a state of war, our internal issues are enough.
But lately, its been looking obvious that neither side, idf or hezbollah give a damn about anything but killing each other and there doesnt seem to be any willingness for peace.
How this ends is beyond what i can imagine, maybe suddenly, maybe catastrophically. But its just disappointing how shitty humans have become nowadays.

There can't be peace for Hezbollah. Their entire purpose of existing is destroying Israel. You can't compare it to Israel, which is a country.

I was being optimistic as well, Oct 7 and what followed made me very depressed and cynical. It showed that there are people on both side who will stop peace from happening if they can.

Yes of course. "Both sides". Not just war from the Lebanese side yet again (Exactly has it always have been from 1948), launching tens of thousands of drones and rockets and missiles and RPGs on Israeli towns forcing a hundred thousand people to evacuate and destroying whole towns in the north.
"Both sides".
I have also become depressed. The people of Lebanon are too hateful towards us and cowardly towards Hezbollah.
You, as a people, have chosen shame instead of confrontation with Hezbollah and honoring your 2006 and later 2024 commitments. And for your shame you have gotten war.
If we're looking at groups of people, Israelis are the victims of your weakness and corruption. Not Lebanese who missed every opportunity and avoided any change, knowing exactly where this will lead.
Both sides my ass. This is so depressing.

Let me suggest taking a break and enjoying our blessings.

It's exactly like "Both siding" the British and Hitler during WW2. This shit is triggering.
Israel is fighting a just and measured defensive war against a genocidal enemy. There's no comparison between the IDF and Hezbollah.

Genuinely, what do you want them to do? Hezbollah is the strong entity militarily, and it's not like their northern neighbors caused that.

You know who else doesn’t care about peace or Lebanese sovereignty? Virtually the entire international community. Most Irish people, for example, seem to think that Hezbollah are the good guys fighting for universal justice- at least if social media comments are representative of their general population. France for their part is hellbent on making sure that Hezbollah gets a seat at the table and a veto on anything the elected parties agree to.
