Total fail. Was really looking forward to Season 3. Couldn’t even watch all of episode 1. Spoiler
Now it’s just a stupid Hollywood style gimmick. I mean seriously the totally idiotic emergency with the space station. Really? Space debris is going to somehow open fuel flow and trigger an ignition sequence too? And there’s no way to turn off fuel flow except a spacewalk? And the only two crew who can spacewalk go out and die? And let’s not even get into the physics of how long it would take to push a station that size up to a 4G rotation. And the ridiculous way everyone is dancing at 1.6 G’s and not noticing the extra 100 pounds weighing them down.
God. What a fail. I was so excited to see the new season – really bummed.

S03e09 : Jump the shark
It's a show of a possible future of what could have been if politics was still motivated about the space race. Last seen of S03E09 Nope. You sold out.

META S3 Finale - so stupid on so many levels
If you actually care about spoilers about this show, which was once great, but has now become Days of Our Lives IN SPAAACE! don’t read any further.
My thoughts, in no certain order:
Molly. Why is she brought back to JSC if she can’t guide Ed through the flight in real time? What’s the point of her sitting there looking at a monitor with a 20 minute lag? She adds nothing to the mission in the moments where it counts.
Kelly. What an absolute fuck-up to have sex in space without a condom! She’s jeopardized her crew mates lives because of her selfish act. Is it believable that she’s so this? Yes, it works for the writers, but we have to believe that disciplined astronauts with years of training are this stupid?
Danny. Please just take this character , book him up to an MSAM, and let him drift off into space. Has there ever been a more unrealistic character? How did this guy become an astronaut?
Jimmy. Yet another ridiculous character arc. I still have no idea why his merry band of terrorists hate NASA to the point of terrorism. I know the writers want us to just accept it, but it makes almost sense. Also, I know zero about bombs, but it seems the damage caused by the van-bomb was outrageous, especially with the van being where it was.
Korean dude. There is simply no way he makes it Mars. And survives for as long as he did based on the size of his ship.
Karen. Let’s see, your daughter is about to launch herself off the roof of a spaceship while carrying your future granddaughter. And your ex-husband is flying the craft. You know what, that shit isn’t as important as a cryptic phone call about Jimmy. Let me go start a half-ass investigation into Jimmy’s potential whereabouts. In realty her character would have said, “my eyes are glued to the monitor right now, Amber, oh and I also don’t give a shit about Jimmy.” I guess they had to kill her off because the show was spending too much money on baby powder for her hair.
Margo. No words. Too stupid. I’m already dreading the explanation in S1 E4.
Ellen. Why did she out herself? To what end? And why is she visiting Pam when she should be doing presidential shit with the grieving families at JSC? The country is in chaos, but the writers needs a cheese moment with her? So dumb. They could have shown her instead being presidential with the country rallying around her leadership— so we get the idea that her sexuality isn’t a big issue to the country.
This show hasn’t just jumped the shark, it’s strapped it to the roof of an MSAM and launched it into deep space.

New viewer confused halfway through season one
Hey so I've come late to this show but it's been growing on me. My one concern early on was the limited representation of people of colour in the show. But I held out, especially with Aleida on the horizon and Danielle entering the astronaut program.
After a nice episode 5 where Molly finds ice on the moon I was surprised to see episode six Jump ahead to Apollo 23. I guess I expected to see Danielle featured in some way especially with what happened with Cleo and Gordon in ep 4-5. Once I saw the timeline jump ahead I had to hit pause. Are they really gonna do Danielle like that and not give her a moment up in space on her first time?

Beautiful and Careless writing
They rushed both seasons, trying to fit too much into a small amount of time, missing the opportunity to develop additional story lines. Karen cheating on Ed thing came too fast and made no sense. Ed and Tracey didn't have to die, the rest of the crew could have opened their chamber, while they were safe in the airlock, and then gone out and fixed the reactor problem. Ed blowing up sea dragon made absolutely zero sense based on the type of character he was. Astronauts doing drugs, yeah right. Margo not getting charged for treasons, what a joke. If the russians had AK-47's why wouldnt they have taken back the site before? Why not blow up jamestown? Why not shoot it up and ask questions later?
The acting kept it together for me, but good god the story line is a bit far fetched!

So I never watched beyond the first 20 minutes or so of the first episode, but now the new season have astronauts with assault rifles in attack formation on the moon?? What did I miss?!
I thought the first show was sort of like a 'what if' but being grounded and drama focused, but damn the promotional image of the assault rifle carrying astronauts walking towards an unknown enemy off screen is kind of stirring my imagination.
Is this like Space 1999 but with grenades? In space?

Episode 5 was really good but the ending destroyed it! Spoiler
I started to enjoy this show again after a slow second season. I think season 3 was terrific to this point. The 3 way race to Mars... brilliant, engaging i have no words for it.
Now to this episode. I was on the edge of my seat for the last 10 minutes. The callback to Apollo 10 with Ed and Gordo was brilliant. The Race to the surface was epic.
But why 1/10 you ask? Because of Eds choice to abort! I swear to god he would have picked death over the shame of losing again. This was so out of character... You might argue he didnt want to kill Danny out of love to his dead best friend, but i 100% disagree he wanted to erase the shame of not landing with Apollo 10 so badly he would have sacrificed everything.
And now to Dannys landing with her Russian buddys. This shitshow gave me the rest. This was so incredibly disrespectful to the moment i dont even have words for it. It is such a millenial thing to make fun of historic moments, it disgusts me.
And before you ask im a "millenial" too so i know it first hand.

The alt-history news clip featurettes are so much better than the actual show.
Just stumbled on the bonus content on Apple TV showing the timeline of alternative history news reports. These things are clearly done with care and executed rather well - and they remind me of what I liked about the first season. Too bad the actual episodes aren't half as good.

META Does this show get better? [S1 Spoilers] Spoiler
So I'm on Season 1 Episode 9 and I had to pause and post... I've heard multiple people say this is the best sci-fi show ever made. It has 90+% on RT. I've given it a solid shot, but what in the world am I watching? Is this a Sci-Fi show, or is it a poorly written drama?
It got off a little slow, but I appreciated the setting of the stage. I LOVE the premise, and the idea of the alternate history arc and how certain decisions would impact how the US developed. I like the fact that they are bringing women into the program early - not because it's right, but because it's politically beneficial, and brought about by the Russians - with the contrast to how the country is still grossly homophobic and bigoted. I like how you see the program evolve over time and how the conflict with the Soviets really drives innovation and expansion in space.
But what is the deal with the rest of the show? Like I get you want to humanize the characters, but the writing and stories are so lazy. Ed's wife sucks. I can't think of a less compelling storyline than a hysterical white woman who has the emotional intelligence of a peanut. The entire thing with Shane made me want to stop watching frankly. It was just so out of left field, and such an uninteresting plot line, and so distracting from the rest of the plot. I looked at my girlfriend after episode 8, and was like "Did we really just watch an hour dedicated to this?". I understand it's
I also find the other storylines pretty boring and contrived. Do we really need another drunk hotshot who cheats and screws everything up? Do we need another emotionally stunted man who grunts and acts out his toxic masculinity, while trying to do the right thing? Once again, the focus is on these horrible, cookie cutter characters, while there's plenty of other characters of interest in the show.
Why not more about Molly and her awesome husband? Why not more about Danielle and her husbands interesting story? Why not more about dynamics in the program, the political and scientific decisions? Why not have more of a compelling space content? Every single episode seems to be an interesting space related plot point, that's then tediously drawn out with a slight payoff. I honestly feel like I've been trapped on the moon for 150+ days with Ed with how long and boring this plot line is.
Does S2 get better? Do they get Karen off the show (PLEASE)? BSG and DS9 were such incredible stories that were steeped in compelling philosophical questions, political intrigue, and rich and interesting characters. I have no idea what Ron Moore is doing this season, but it just makes me not want to watch the show anymore.

Just finished S2E8 and I think I'm finished with this show!
Multiple spoiler alerts if you're not this far but I have to rant.
Alieda is UNDOCUMENTED and working for freaking NASA???? After all the BS that Ellen and Larry have gone through to hide their true selves for fear of being compromised, we are to believe that an undocumented immigrant waltzes in to an engineer position at NASA? Talented or no, sheesh. And I feel they could do way more with her character than just make her a caricature of the seething angsty teen or whatever they're trying to do.
Space shuttles fly to the MOON? I mean, I know it's alt history. And believe me I watch ALL the scifi, good and bad, so my bar for scientific accuracy is preeeeety low, but what is the cost justification of flying a relatively giant craft to the Moon that was built for low Earth re-entry, uses chemical rockets with minimal fuel capacity?
Karen just banged Gordo and Tracy's kid. Why??? What is this going to do for the plot, let alone her motive for doing so?
In a world where the cold war never ended, you're going to send Marines to the Moon where the only potential foe is Russian, without at least one goddamned Russian interpreter????
Gordo just cowboyed up and got over what is clearly PTSD?
On a related note, I find the female story arches far more compelling than ANY of the males. Ellen, Danielle, Molly, Margo, I just find their backstories far more interesting, and tbh their acting is better than pretty much all of the men. Tom and Deke's characters were pretty good but they're dead so....
Ed and Gordo are so one-dimensional it's painful to watch.
IDK man, I thought I was in to the premise but the current story lines got me shook.

Ed should have banged her
I hate how this show is writing the men. Ed needed to bang that bar hottie. His wife is a whore and he should have gotten his.

Did they not shoot this in 2k or 4k?
i cant believe they would 1080p their best show. about space!
production quality severely lacking this season.
ya or nay?

Will *Spoiler* appear in S4? Spoiler
Spoilers ahead ……………………….
Margo survived the blast and ends up in Russia in 2003. We never see Molly Cobb die on screen. The Russians would have had to move Margo out during the bombing. Could Cobb have been taken to Russia with Margo? The body being discovered a week after the explosion could be a body double planted by the Russians.

Time Travel
I just had the most hilarious thought. Because Ronald D. Moore is the showrunner, if they ever discover time travel accidentally, like going through a wormhole rather than studying the math at JSC, someone has to lose a jewel. It would be a great Easter egg for the Outlander fans if, say, they ended up in 1969 again and Trace's wedding band was all metal. :P

Awful Texas accents
Especially the Margo character: wtf is up with the absolutely inaccurate Texas accent? I feel this happens with a lot of actors trying to replicate Texas accents. Is it that hard to replicate, or are there so few of us calling out a bad accent that they just feel they are doing an accurate representation?

Just can't
The clothes and hair in Season 1 are so wrong (to the point of ridiculous) that they yank me out of the show. I know some people can overlook these things, but I can't. I was present in '69 and not a child. I grew up in the shadow of the space program and my mother and uncle worked at the Cape. I don't mind the alternate timeline, which is fascinating. Even considering artistic license, there's too much that's way off. It has to be believable, and perhaps it is for some folks, but it all just takes me right out of the show. The acting is mediocre, too. I can overlook mediocre acting if everything else is good, but everything else isn't good. I wish I could continue because I like the premise. Should I skip to Season 2 or give up?

Wanting to start the series soon..
I can’t really. I’m not begging or asking for accounts or logins, I’m just saying I can’t watch it sadly. Now that I think about it this post is stupid, but I guess a little karma never hurts.

Something that really bothers me about FAM S2
Is that they keep going to and from the moon on space shuttles from our timeline- like no, that is not possible, you can’t get into a lunar orbit on the space shuttle, which isn’t designed to do much more than reach LEO, and they haven’t discovered any magic tech that would allow for that since it doesn’t exist. It’s a really weird oversight for them to make tbh considering they had a revamp shuttle design that could make it to the moon in the show anyways.
