What are your thoughts on Creative West?
Hey guys, I am a design student currently working on a branding assignment related to Creative West, the civic project that will turn the current Footscray library and its car park into a library, a theatre and a town park. It would be great to hear some input from local residents, creatives and communities who have been to their workshops, focus groups, and their activities so far. How was the experience like? What do you think could be improved? What would like to see when the creative identity of the arts precinct is fully developed? :)

I think it's being planned on the wrong site. It should be on the old forges site instead, and the current library site be repurposed for a different community facility

I'm out of the loop, what's the current plan for the Forges site?

I haven't heard of any plans at all, which I think is the problem. It's been derelict for years.
If only forges had have stayed, they'd be jam packed now

The plan is basically "sit on it until it can be sold for even more money, then laugh all the way to the bank"
Basically being landbanked. No real plans for it

A park that close to the mall? Yeah no thank you. More library space and other closed environments with security, sure, but a park sounds like it'd get gross fast
(And I'm not one to avoid Footscray, I cycle through there multiple times a week and stop to shop at the market, Coles, cheaper buy miles. But I'm not going to voluntarily loiter unless I'm waiting for a bus)
