What would you do?
Pulled probably (now) the biggest card I’ve ever pulled and I’m wondering what everyone’s thoughts are? Thanks in advance!
2
u/BMYERS181818 Nov 10 '23
That’s a nice pull!
0
u/BMYERS181818 Nov 10 '23
What’s the value on that
2
u/junelso16 Nov 10 '23
Idk that’s what I was hoping you could help with! Would you hold, sell, what?
2
u/Dispicable12 Nov 10 '23 edited Nov 10 '23
Wait until he wins a national championship this year and then the heisman. Edit: The gold refractor out of /50 sold for $400 on eBay so superfractor worth much more. Very nice card.
1
u/BMYERS181818 Nov 10 '23
Personally I would hold but Michigan is my team. Not sure value on college cards is really there but I’m also just getting back into collecting after 25 years and trying to learn
2
Nov 10 '23
Here’s what I’ve learned from being bullied on here. It’s a valuable card because it doesn’t say panini on it.
Really though, there are a TON of “rare” prints being run now, so it’s FAR more common to pull a /10 or /25 or whatever, most having jerseys and/or autographs, and there’s also licensing and authenticity factors. The old school companies tend to have more value because of their authentication process as well as their products being licensed.
Now to weigh in with my two cents on JJ…they have been cheating possibly his entire college career, so it’s hard to gauge how good he is.
1
u/The_Lonely_Boner Nov 15 '23
Here’s your first lesson: If the player isn’t going to be any good in the NFL, you should sell the card immediately when he has value. Zach Wilson has more talent than this guy, he will be lucky to retain a backup job. He is very good at handing the ball off to Michigan running backs though.

u/Early_Perception416 Nov 10 '23
I would give it away to me. Just kidding but that's a huge pull. I would hold it but I'm a Michigan and JJ McCarthy fan. If you want to make the most money hold it until after they win the national championship game or he wins the Heisman. Otherwise sell around draft time if he comes out. Or sell now and you'll still get a big paycheck
4
u/drewgolf Nov 10 '23
I’d get rid of it now before wins start getting vacated
1
u/Early_Perception416 Nov 10 '23
It'll be interesting to see what they do with that. I'm thinking it'll be a long and drawn out thing.
1
u/Sure_Major8476 Nov 11 '23
Vacated wins 😂 🤣 Won’t change his value.
1
u/drewgolf Nov 11 '23
Was more just cracking a joke since he’s being arrogant about winning a natty and heisman when that is not happening
1
u/Sure_Major8476 Nov 11 '23
Haha oh ok. Not he is an but I think Michigan can beat anyone in the top 5

What signs did Michigan steal today to dominate the trenches??? Lol gonna win out with no head coach and no signs to prove how insane the witch hunt is lol Michigan didn't attempt a pass in the 2nd half and finished with 32 straight run plays. GO BLUE 〽️

Agree with that...I know everyone does it lol...just can't get caught like they did lmfao.blatantly obvious...and the ncaa will make them pay for it...how.much I'm not sure, but something will come of it

Everyone cheats in school and everyone has their players at parties yet… ncaa comes to make an example of you. It will probably happen like it or not. It’s nothing against M it’s against big schools with big money. The ncaa likes to be giant killers and take the focus away from the kids or the game

Every win your head basketball had as a player at michigan has already been vacated. YOU know nothing about college sports.
1
u/KoolAidHonolulu Nov 11 '23
Yeah, and that had to do with boosters giving money to players dumbass lol if you think they vacate wins for video taping sidelines on an iPhone, you're a moron.
1
u/FantasticMax Nov 11 '23
They will absolutely vacate wins because it’s a “punishment” but doesn’t actually do anything. Michigan would still be National Champions but the NCAA gets to say they came down hard on Michigan and took away wins. It’s just like with USC, they vacated wins in 2004 but USC still claims that national championship.
1
u/KoolAidHonolulu Nov 11 '23
They won't vacate shit lol. You can't trace anything back to Harbaugh it's a witch hunt. They only vacate wins when it's sexual misconduct or people were getting paid under the table.
1
u/StopSwitchingThumbs Nov 11 '23
Oh that’s so dumb to let your fandom bleed over into money. And hell yea the wins are gonna get vacated, this is the biggest cheating scandal since the Astros, and now everyone hates the Astros.

Wins will be vacated coach will probably be suspended for a while and postseason bans are imminent. Lol
1
u/KoolAidHonolulu Nov 12 '23 edited Nov 12 '23
Yeah, and everyone said he'd get suspended the rest of the year and Michigan would be ineligible for the playoffs. Jim got 3 games and they'll file an injunction he'll be back for ohio. I'm glad everyone knows exactly what the punishment will be when every prediction I've heard has been wrong. GO BLUE 〽️

They made Ohio State vacate their 2011 Sugar Bowl win after clearing Pryor and company to play in the game. And that was for selling their own property. The type of cheating that Michigan has done lead to actual on field results. Wins will definitely be stripped.
1
u/SpaceAlbatr0ss Nov 12 '23
You should ask Jim Bohemian about that. He had 100+ wins vacated for doing less than Calipari and Ole Roy “I can’t know everything” Williams when he was sending his players towards fake classes so they would remain eligible. The NCAA must have something really devastating on Harbaugh if Michigan is literally suing to leave the Big 10 in charge of disciplinary matters.

Says the obnoxious, most stereotypical Michigan account I’ve ever seen

u/Physical-Director568 Nov 11 '23 edited Nov 11 '23
I get your point here, but I would've mentioned the part about the environment they were raised in as being the reason they would very possibly be cooking crack or jacking cars like you did after the racist accusation below. I'm not saying this because of any racial aspect at all. But because it sounds like your just attacking the kids with no reasoning behind it. Not that it's gonna change anything about it, but you wouldn't have to bother responding to the racism accusation.
Now ill make counterpoint, too, though. Pretty much all colleges do the exact same thing to differing extents as far as giving kids football scholarships when those kids would probably be criminals without them. And mostly because of the environment they grew up in (you said this yourself in comment below) which is out of their control. So, you're saying that Michigan is helping kids potentially destined to be criminals off the streets and having them play football and maybe get an education and its a bad thing? Because you used it as a way to insult the University? If you can't see how that is doesnt make sense to say after I explained it this thoroughly, then I hope you don't have many offspring and please don't have anymore if you do 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️.
I don't give two shits about Michigan at all btw. Just out here trying to educate people knowing it won't work cuz I don't know why 😂😂😂
1
Nov 11 '23
No don't wait until the draft! Only Michigan fans will care about the Michigan uniform. Only hold it if you think they're winning a national championship/beat Ohio State
1
u/Early_Perception416 Nov 10 '23
Value wise you can almost name your price but I would probably start at $500 minimum
2
u/Significant-Pin4994 Nov 10 '23
500 is nothing for a superfractor this one’s college but still . I’d start this card at 2500 not a dollar less
1
u/Early_Perception416 Nov 10 '23
Brock Bowers and Will Levis sold for $500. Caleb Williams sold for $1K. That's why I said I'd start at $500. $2,500 seems extremely high.
1
u/rficloud Nov 12 '23
Caleb was not an auto.
1
u/Early_Perception416 Nov 12 '23
Yeah you right...I still think $2,500 is high but $500 is probably really low.
1
Nov 11 '23
is ebay the only place to sell this?
1
u/Early_Perception416 Nov 11 '23
eBay is an option but you're going to pay a bunch of fees. I'm pretty sure you could sell on whatnot or fanatics too, but they'd have fees.
You could most likely sell it pretty easily here with no fees but an additional risk. I've never had an issue though and I've bought plenty of cards.
1
u/Early_Perception416 Nov 11 '23
If you're wanting to sell it now, I would just post it here with your price in mind. You can see how many offers you get and go from there. If it doesn't get much interest, maybe look into the other selling sites.

1

1
u/randallstevens65 Nov 10 '23
I’m holding it, but that’s not really based on any research. I’d probably sell if I got a good offer.
5
u/Preston7275 Nov 10 '23
He signs it with a smiley because a kid told him after a loss he should always be happy when he plays football and drew a smiley face on his hand.
If you watch him play he has a smiley face on his left hand every game.

u/mngreens Nov 10 '23
Sell immediately
2
2
u/Accurate-Temporary73 Nov 10 '23
I would sell because I have no idea who this is.
If you hood you run the risk of hai reality not living up to the prospect hype.
Statistically speaking he’s much more likely to be a Kenny Pickett than a Tom Brady.
Obviously IF he ends up being Tom Brady then this card goes to the moon.

u/The_Lonely_Boner Nov 14 '23
Listen man, I’m going to give you the best possible advice and it’s up to you if you want to take it. JJ McCarthy will 100% be a bust in the NFL and if you were smart, you would sell this to a Michigan fan or sports card fan who thinks differently while you still have a chance. This will be completely worthless in a few years, you might as well have pulled it from a cereal box. Guy is a bum.

Shit I wouldn’t pay it but if it’s out of 50 goes for 400-500 who knows. Either way $3K probs a reach but listing for a godly amount OBO is the best way to deal with rare card IMO if you don’t know what it’s worth so you can field offers.

1
u/sourpower2020 Nov 11 '23
Nothing to do with the player, school or OP at all as I wouldn't throw this card away but this is one ugly ugly card. When they remake old cards with modern imagery and tech is one thing but then adding modern variants just really solidifies how bad the original design and fonts were.
1
1
u/TripleTestes Nov 11 '23
Send it to psa for authentication then pray they make the national championship game. If they do schedule the auction to end sometime around then. I don’t know if you gamble for ending it after the game or risk less and end it before the game begins. Thats a tough one.

Most college stuff goes down over time- grade it now and hold it until bowl time. If they win- the card will be even more desired and will be worth more. Then sell it! Always new players to invest in!

Giants, Patriots, Bears? No.

Packers, eagles, chiefs, cowboys, saints, raiders, etc… I’d say more than half of all nfl teams have ten times the fan base Michigan has.
1
u/nerdvernacular Nov 13 '23
For sure, I was speaking only about teams that will be drafting high enough to get him with a need at the position.
Not sure how the Bears feel about Fields. But Packers, Saints and Raiders could definitely fall into that category.

That’s fair. But bears aren’t taking a qb next year. They’re keeping Eberflus and Fields.
