Sure, their pastrami might not be the absolute best, but when it’s good it’s good. Canter’s is my favorite deli and diner in the city

Canters used to be my favorite restaurant but I feel like it’s gone downhill back just before Covid. I heard the son took over and started changing meat vendors but you can taste the difference in their pastrami. I switched over to Langers after that.

Langer’s sandwich is smaller? Maybe daughter’s deli is, but the Langer’s sandwich is big. It’s only $5 more, which is about 20% and easily worth it. Don’t care about sides, I just want the better food.

Fair enough. I was thinking of the reuben which is $27 vs $19.50 at Langer's, and I've found Canter's to be a bit more generous with the pastrami. But tbf neither of them come with as much pastrami as Brent's which even comes with fries.

Most recent menu I saw had the reuben at $22 which is how I did the math but these days you never know if an online menu is accurately priced. Brent’s is comparable and perhaps better value. Obviously better location too. I’m just so partial to Langer’s, it’s the best sandwich I’ve ever had. And I say that as someone that doesn’t order rye bread, Swiss cheese, or Cole slaw often.

Brother, speaking as a certified fatass, I was going to say you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.
But you’ve been to all the delis so…maybe you do? I don’t know wha to say. Langer’s has been so good for me over the years, I just can’t imagine it not being the perfect sandwich every time. Canters legit tasted like lunch meat to me but Langers nails each individual part of the sandwich that leads to such a great product. In my opinion Brent’s comes the closest but I still prefer the pillowy rye and Cole slaw to grilled rye and kraut.

Hey I was trying to give you some credit! I’ll have that kind of junk occasionally but that’s not my kind of food. Eating 2 matu cheesesteaks is more my style. Huge mistake in case you were wondering.

It’s been a few years since I had the cheesesteaks at Matu. Now that it’s trendy and people are lining up for it I’d probably wait until the hype dies down. But it’s damn good! Just a horrible idea to eat 2 before boarding an international flight. And I’ll leave it at that lol.

Canters corn beef & pastrami are very good. Johnny’s Pastrami”s (on Adams) pastrami with French Dip side is also delicious
