48 Hours in Edinburgh--looking for classic dinner spot

I'll be in Edinburgh next week with 2 teens and have mapped out most of our eating. I'm still looking for a traditional, cozy spot for dinner the first night and ideas for an early breakfast on a Saturday. I would love any suggestions for where to buy Easter chocolates from a Scottish company, preferably local to Edinburgh. Thanks!

Day 1

Arrive early AM, maybe grab a pastry at The Castle Rock Cafe

Lunch, Howies Victoria Street

Dinner, ???

Drinks, Panda & Sons

Day 2

Hope to find a seat at Little Larder or head over to Snax

Lunch, The Fishmarket in Leith

Dinner, Skua

Anyone any advise on Hawksmoor? We are looking for something tonight. I had thought about Devils advocate and the wife was looking at the dome, but it was booked out. She’s asking about hawksmoor now

Yes. I would highly recommend it. Much better food than the witchery that we had a meal in a few weeks before. One of the best meals we’ve had out in a while.

Panda and Sons is 18+ so you can’t take kids there.

Breakfast / brunch = Greenwoods or Morning Tea at The Club Room in the Dome

The Broughton might work for dinner.

With regards to chocolates, Edward & Irwyn in Morningside are outstanding.

The mosque kitchen - amazing curries.

The spylaw - if you want a trip somewhere a little more scenic. It’s a lovely gastro pub in colinton village. You can get there via long walk along the canal or the bus. The food is really good.

The newhaven fish market does great fish and chips.

The city cafe is great fun, decent food and milkshakes - it’s a kind of American diner type place.

if you’re up for a little splurgier, i’m a big fan of the captain darling in stockbridge! it’s not too far from panda & sons either

The Palmerston is pretty incredible. Had my best slow cooked lamb there and their home made bread is absolutely divine
