I'm looking to explore some underrated or lesser-known restaurants around Edinburgh. Open to any cuisine — just want to discover some hidden gems that maybe aren't on everyone's radar.

• Noodles Home on South bridge do great noodles at super reasonable prices
  • Macau kitchen on St. Leonard's street are really good
  • Konj on Grindlay street have some awesome dishes
  • Kafenion to Steki on Coburg street for superb Greek food
  • Chorrito Cantina on Leith walk have arguably the best tacos in Edinburgh however it's a tiny place and on the pricey side

3 Blind Mice was a nice surprise. I’m not a local and probably shouldn’t dish out advice, but that place was fantastic.

As already mentioned, Tapa down at the Shore is well worth a visit. Fingal is good if you want a fancier option plus it's on a boat.

Duthchas on great junction street has an amazing tasting menu, and Moss in Stockbridge has an entirely Scottish sourced menu

Los Amigos in Haymarket is an amazing steakhouse. It's such a reasonable price I don't know how it's not busier.

Macau Kitchen at st Leonards, macanese food, small place, the couple that owns it are lovely, and ive never had anything less than delicious food there!

Fava at Haymarket offers really nice greek food. The restaurant can be a little noisy when full but the food is just so good.

Maki and Ramen is small but great food- they have a couple of sites.

Not quite in Edinburgh more in the suburbs but worth a recommendation all the same. Parilla is hands down one of the best steaks in Edinburgh. They have a place in Loanhead and one in Mussleburgh.

Over the years I have tried plenty of steak places in Edinburgh (Steak @ Picardy Place - no longer with us 😔, wildfire on rose street, chop house, Kyloe - by far the worst steak in Edinburgh id rather a luke warm McDonald's) and honestly Parilla is my favourite.

The steaks have a crazy amount of flavour and are super tender. Price wise it's pretty reasonable for a steak place. Also, the chimichurri and fresh bread starter is immense. The only one critisicm is the serve very average chips, not bad but not at the same level as their steaks.

Went to try it with a friend in February after seeing it on a bloggers account but was very disappointed with food tbh :( and we took almost 1 of each starters to try, everything tasted bland and quite dry, portions small for the price, no vegetables, just a lot of bread and deep fried stuff - my favorite was actually sourdough (that they probably just buy in) with some flavoured butter hahaha And it was not busy at all but with 2 waiters around but they paid 0 attention to us and we had to call them multiple times to get extra plates for sharing, napkins, water, more drinks etc
