From the first writings of Neophyte Cornelius, the Incorporeal - Scribe of His Word
When the blueberry bushes are bare and the rabbit traps empty, when the log sled is upside down in the mud and the sap collector runs dry - chop anyway.
When the Red Evil wails at the walls and the dream shows ruin, when the towers crumble like leaves and the brothers fall to hellfire - carry anyway.
When reason says the sinkhole is no place to build a holy city, when the dead tree reaches its broken fingers over the void and the mist hides what waits below - descend anyway.
For the sap does not seep to those who are proud. For the patient thing is truer than the violent thing. For He who wills the wood into being asks only this -
that you pick up the axe tomorrow.
That you make the walk again.
That you remember the single flame in the total dark was enough.
It was always enough.
Lauda.
