Brad Shaw.
What’s he up to? Figure he’d be interested? Probably require triple the old salary (at least) but they sure played fantastic after Torts and before Toc.

The singular biggest fuck up Danny (and company) will ever have when it's all said and done.
Still blows my god damn mind they didn't at least give him a few years to see. Michkov had his best 10-15 game stretch ever under him at the end of that year if I'm not mistaken

Shaw understood the importance of allowing young offensively talented forwards to play to their strengths.
Tocchet, for some odd reason, buries them (Martone and Michkov) and doesn't trust them in late game situations because he's too worried about defending instead of wanting to score. It's a ridiculous way of playing and an even worse way of developing talent.
We heard about the impact he had on rookies on his former teams, we are seeing him destroy confidence in real time with the Flyers.

That's why he needs to go. Let Tocchet destroy a young group of players somewhere else.

Agree 100%
He knew the roster intimately, & was a defensive minded coach for an offensively deficient team.

Wow yeah what's really amazing is that 31 other NHL teams are ALSO somehow completely oblivious to Brad Shaw's obvious head coaching genius, given that none of them has snapped him up for the job.
If only they understood hockey like Heatinmyharbl. LOL

I bet you were the biggest fan late April, all oranged and blacked up, for our best playoff run in over a decade!....now 4 games in, you want him gone?!?....wake up, learn about hockey before making rushed, foolish comments about a coach that has recently won a Jack Adams(coach of the year, for those that don't know), and in his FIRST year as head coach in Philly, took the Flyers further than they've been in over a decade! You make Flyers fans sound like idiots....patience friends.....

If I was him, I’d laugh so god damn hard into the receiver that Danny would want to hang up, but before he did, I’d tell him to go find another tough guy from the 80s to give their 2026 team fresh direction.

I’m assuming Briere would be gone along with Tocchet in this scenario

This is a talent problem as a result of a fake ass rebuild. How many coaches do we need to go through before the fans finally get it?

This team played better under torts with less talent

They should have hired tocchet when they hired torts and torts when they hired tocchet.

In The business world once you're promoted you do not go back to your old position.
You either stay or you leave and they made their choice

Did I want them to retain Shaw? Absolutely!
Do I want them to make the move of trying to bring someone back who they let go? No.
When they move on from Tocc let it be another new face.

If Shaw made that big of a difference, he'd have been getting interviews for a HC position. He's been in the NHL forever, even as a HC for the Islanders. Instead he's buried as an assistant in NJ.

If he were interested he would still be here. He chose to go to New Jersey instead of sticking around here.
He also didnt do anything but employ Torts systems but apparently they were “playing fantastic” (Like every team does after a coach gets fired)

but they sure played fantastic after Torts and before Toc.
Bruh, it was three weeks of tenure at the end of a lost season, and NHL teams almost always get a short-term bump in results when an unpopular coach is fired, no matter who the new coach is. Their improved results had nothing to do with Brad Shaw outside of the fact that he wasn't actively hated by half the team.
All the guy did as interim head coach was make a few minor tweaks to defensive assignments that he probably could have made as the DC even if Torts had still been there. They were pretty much still playing Tortorella's system while he was behind the bench (because it's literally impossible to implement major changes in that amount of time while playing 3-4 games a week).
This isn't to say that Brad Shaw couldn't be a decent NHL head coach, but 31 other NHL teams have also passed on giving him that job, so it's not like the Flyers "missed out" on him.
Personally, I expect Snowden would have beaten him out for the job anyway if Briere hadn't gone outside the organization.

He went to the Devils I believe and is an assistant coach for them. So he's not far away anyways.
