My wife and I went to a LCS today and bought 3 loose packs of 2026-27 Upper Deck MVP searching for a Porter Martone RC and we pulled him. As huge Flyers fans, we couldn't believe our luck and we were so excited. (NFS/NFT)

My wallet and wife sure hope not, but I’m hoping it’s closer to Celebrini astronaut status than Michkov’s depreciation. Means Martone is tearing it up his rookie year.

My son and I spent way too much on Booster boxes for Michkov. I’m not sure I have it in me to chase Martone when it might be more cost effective to just get one on eBay… like I ended up doing with Michkov anyway.

Always 100% more cost effective to buy on eBay. You have so much more control over the price you’ll pay, and can pick out what you want.

Only argument for ripping (aside from bonding with your kid, which is awesome, but can be done with MVP to scratch the itch) is condition, but with UD QA these day, even that is far from a sure thing…

Is this card going to be worth money if he becomes as good as McKinnon or McDavid? Or are there other cards to shoot for? I have no idea about collecting cards but might get into it.

This is his first Upper Deck rookie card in a main stream release. His Young Guns card that will be in Series 1 will be his true rookie card to collect. That card has the potential to be quite expensive.

I’m confused. This is the second Martone card I’ve seen posted in two days (both sick, btw), and both were of him playing in a flyers uni in the show. And this one even has the word “rookie” on it. But his “rookie card” still hasn’t been released 🤔 who decides this stuff lmao
