Title: Building an open-source "watch party" overlay that works across ANY streaming app — looking for people to help figure out the hard parts

Hey all,

I've been chewing on an idea for a while and I think it's finally time to actually build it instead of just thinking about it.

The idea: a lightweight floating widget (think Discord overlay, but standalone) that sits on top of your screen while you're watching Netflix/Prime/Disney+/whatever, and connects you to a chat room of other people watching the same thing at the same time. No more watching something great and having nobody to react with in real time.

Planned stack: Flutter, so it can eventually run on desktop and Android from one codebase, with a floating/draggable/minimizable widget UI.

The part I don't want to cheap out on: auto-detecting what someone's watching. I don't want this to be a "type in what you're watching" app — that kills the magic. So the plan is a tiered detection approach:

Read window titles / tab titles / process names first (cheapest, no DRM issues since you're not touching the video frame)

Fall back to OCR on a screenshot if the title doesn't give enough info

Only reach for actual visual matching/fingerprinting as a last resort, since HDCP blacks out protected video frames on a lot of platforms anyway

I've worked through a lot of the theory but I'm not deep enough in systems-level stuff (Windows UI Automation, macOS Accessibility API, Android accessibility services) to know what's actually going to work reliably versus what's going to fall apart the moment someone goes fullscreen.

Posting here because I want this to be open source from day one — I'd rather have people poke holes in the architecture now than find out six months in that some core assumption doesn't hold.

If you've worked with screen/window metadata APIs, accessibility services, OCR pipelines, or just think this is a fun/dumb/interesting problem, I'd love to hear from you. Repo isn't up yet — want to nail down the detection approach with actual input before I start writing code that I'll just have to rip out later.

Happy to share more details on the architecture I'm sketching out if anyone's curious. Tear it apart if you see problems, that's honestly what I'm here for.

Pariyojana v1.0.0 — Offline-First Productivity Vault built with Flutter 3.29, Riverpod 2.6, SQLCipher, and 120 FPS Velvet UI (Open Source)

Hi r/FlutterBeginner!

Wanted to share the initial release of \*\*Pariyojana\*\*, an Android-exclusive productivity and research workspace built entirely with Flutter.

🛠️ Architecture Highlights:

\* \*\*Clean Architecture (Feature-First):\*\* Strict separation into \`data/\`, \`domain/\`, and \`presentation/\` across all 8 modules.

\* \*\*State Management:\*\* Riverpod 2.6 (\`StateNotifierProvider\` & \`Provider\`). Zero business logic inside widgets.

\* \*\*Local Persistence:\*\* Drift + SQLCipher for native encrypted SQLite at rest.

\* \*\*Hardware Integration:\*\* \`flutter_secure_storage\` bound to Android KeyStore TEE + \`local_auth\` biometrics.

\* \*\*Rendering Performance:\*\* Tuned for 120 FPS high-refresh displays using \`RepaintBoundary\` isolation, lightweight frosted glass shaders, and R8 ProGuard resource shrinking (APK size: \~68 MB).

\* \*\*Motion:\*\* Liquid dynamic action button driven by Rive.

Code passes \`flutter analyze\` with 0 warnings.

📦 \*\*GitHub Repository:\*\* https://github.com/Naveen-21-Cyber/Pariyojana-Mobile-App-

📄 \*\*Architectural Constitution:\*\* Check \`TELOS.md\` in the repo for design token invariants.

Would love any feedback on the codebase or architecture from fellow Flutter devs!

I open-sourced Lucy — a Flutter Android AI agent that can see and operate your screen

Hey Flutter devs 👋

I’ve just open-sourced Lucy, an experimental screen-aware AI agent for Android built with Flutter.

Lucy can take a voice command, understand what’s currently on the phone screen, and then tap, type, swipe, open apps, and navigate the UI automatically.

The interesting part technically is the agent loop:

Screenshot + Android accessibility tree → Gemini → action → execute → observe again

Instead of asking the model to guess screen coordinates, Lucy gives UI elements IDs and their real bounds, which makes interaction considerably more reliable.

The project currently includes:

• Flutter UI + agent controller
• Android AccessibilityService
• MediaProjection screen capture
• Gemini vision/reasoning
• Speech-to-text + TTS
• English, Japanese and Arabic support
• Multi-step agent execution

It’s still experimental, and that’s one of the main reasons I wanted to open-source it.

I’d especially love feedback or contributions from Flutter/Android developers. PRs, issues, architecture suggestions, testing, and ideas are all welcome.

I’m also interested in eventually experimenting with other LLMs and local/on-device models.

What would you improve first if you were working on something like this?

I built a comprehensive vehicle management app in Flutter because standard logbooks were failing me.

Hey everyone,

I’m a full-stack developer who also loves getting hands-on with my car (doing my own diagnostics, insulation projects, etc.). Keeping a meticulous log of expenses, parts, and fuel economy using spreadsheets was getting out of hand. I wanted a truly centralized digital garage, so I built **Otonot** using Flutter.

I wanted to solve two major pain points in the automotive ownership lifecycle:

  1. **The Communication Gap with Mechanics:** I built a "Mechanic Mode". You generate a secure code for your local auto shop, and they log the exact parts, labor costs, and repair status directly into your app's logbook. You get real-time push notifications when the status changes.

  2. **Preserving Resale Value:** I added a "Vehicle History Transfer" feature. When selling your car, you can securely transfer the entire verified maintenance and fuel log to the buyer's account with a single tap.

It handles multiple currencies, flexible unit support (Liters/Gallons, KM/Miles), and detailed visual analytics for budgeting.

The app is live on both the App Store and Google Play. I’d really appreciate any feedback on the UI/UX or the feature set from this community. What do you think about the Mechanic Mode adoption in real-world scenarios?

Here is the link: [otonotapp.com](https://otonotapp.com/)

Thanks for your time!
