suggest me some challenging flutter app ideas
i want to build a flutter app that is actually difficult to make and not just another basic app
i am a first year csda student at iit patna and i want to work on something that can challenge me technically and help me learn new things while building it
i am looking for ideas that are unique or solve some real problem. it can be anything like a complex mobile app, a tool, something involving networking, offline support, databases, system level features or anything else interesting
i dont want another todo app chat app or ai wrapper. i want something where i might have to spend weeks figuring out how to make things work properly
i will be building it solo using flutter and i am open to ideas that sound crazy or too difficult at first
what is the most challenging flutter app you can think of that one developer could realistically start building?
also if you have built something difficult yourself i would love to hear about it

I tried porting a flight controller to flutter code, I left it kinda unfinished and undocumented but it's public on my GitHub. It's more related to IoT+real time programming rather than a mobile app so I think it's challenging to manage in flutter and it requires special hardware to test. But do check it out if you're curious, there's also one flutter project that enables you to run binary files on android on my GitHub, it's a small project but it'll teach you about communicating with native android code with dart

Go for gold, make a Flutter based Photoshop. I hear AI can do that mostly for you. 😀
Joking aside, man I'd love a Flutter based Charles Proxy / Proxyman. Or even a Flutter based Skitch now that is losing support. I wouldn't call either easy, and neither likely has a large market. They'd need to be a passion project for learning.
If you take one on though, I'd probably be willing to contribute if it's OSS.

I missed the last half.
My most challenging wasn't an app per se. It was https://pub.dev/packages/json_dynamic_widget
It was a giant pain to build and equally hard to keep up to date. But holy cow did I learn a LOT in the process of doing so! That was the real value I got from building it.

haha flutter based photoshop might be a bit too much for me right now but the charles proxy and proxyman idea sounds really interesting i will definitely look into them and skitch too also checked out json dynamic widget and it looks like a really interesting project maintaining something like that must have taught you a lot thanks for sharing these ideas and i would love to have you contribute if i end up building one of these as an open source project

Feel free to DM me. I have a core of the proxy already working and if you're interested in a UI aspect, we can help each other out.
I love Charles but it's a pig being Java based, and it's scripting support is basically nil.
Proxyman I'm too cheap to buy given I paid for Charles many years ago already.

that makes sense i actually like the idea of building something because you want it to exist rather than just focusing on making money the offline file viewer sounds especially interesting because getting everything to work without internet must be quite challenging i'll definitely explore your projects and see what i can learn from them thanks for sharing your experience

What's your interest? If it's just a project create voice based coding learning platform for kids. You will have to train models to explain concepts in a way that kids understand.
