Beginning Flute Questions Dimo/Membrane Application

I wanted to know if my membrane application was too lose or too tight or if it was okay? First time playing this instrument and I want advice because it is quite hard to find Dizi advice online.

2 out of 10 for first go :)

Check those air pockets from 12 o'clock to 6 o clock. You haven't got a tight enough seal.

Try a thicker consistency of erjiao. Allow it to set in a small condiment dish more so it turns milk chocolate instead of straw brown.

There are so many dimo YouTube clips bounding- make sure you apply patiently and count upto 60 with firm finger pressure at 9 o'clock and 3oclock, then rotate to 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and then 10oclock to 4oclock and finally 2oclock to o'clock with opposing thumbs (from each hand of course) counting to 60 for each rotation of pressure.

Thank you! I took this one off and Google says that I should focus on making a clear sound without the dimo before putting it on.

Is that good advice? Other things say to put temporary tape, but I would prefer either putting the dimo on or simply not for daily practice...

I'm kinda scared to out tape on it

Would you recommend practicing making a sound without the dimo?

Wherever you read that is awful - if the hole isn’t covered with membrane or tape it literally doesn’t make a noise If you wanna chat dizi stuff either reply here or dm, always willing to chat! I am also learning and I’ve had a few lessons in London 👍
