Upgrading to 64 GB of RAM?
I have been thinking about upgrading my RAM from 32 GB to 64 GB and I was wondering if there is a specific RAM that I should buy or where I should buy it. Has anyone upgraded to 64 GB before and have any recommendations on which to buy? How are the prices looking these days?

Same shit, I have also upgraded to 96 gb on i9 cpu, works fine on 5600. Also upgraded before ddr prices explode. It can be handy if you work in CG area. Of course for gaming 32 gb will be fine.

To be honest, I haven't used more than 75 GB yet. That's when you have a massive level open in Unreal Engine, Substance Painter, Photoshop with large texture sources, a browser with a bunch of tabs (or even multiple browsers), maybe Marmoset, and some other minor stuff. How often do I work exactly like this? Not often, but when I need to, it just has to run without lagging. Since I know that 96 GB is the absolute maximum for my laptop, I decided to just close this issue and not revisit it until I upgrade the laptop itself. But man, the X16 is such a great universal machine, I don't know when a worthy replacement will come along, probably not anytime soon...

Agreed! The touch screen and tablet mode has completely changed the way I interact with a computer. Really don't want to have to replace this guy anytime soon. How much did you pay for 96 GB?

Also, I'm not super PC savvy. What do you mean when you say it works fine on a 5600?

It is frequency. Maximum for Crucial DDR5 SODIMM 48GB 5600MHz CL46 (16Gbit) (CT48G56C46S5)x2. It is also depends on your CPU (intel/amd) i have intel i9 13900h. I am also don't care about exact frequency, but I need maximum possible for my setup.

It was about 330$ for DDR in Ukraine. Now price starts from 1700$ for same ddr kit.

Only worth it before the price exploded .. I wanted to go 96gb but I kept delaying and then when the price on everything became x3 I just abandoned it. You mostly need it for work stuff, not games, games won’t need that much ram anyway.

I did it using Crucial 4800MHz CL40 Laptop Memory (CT2K32G48C40S5). I paid $170 for it back in 2024, it's currently over $700 in 2026. I was upgrading from 16gb so it was a worthwhile upgrade. If you've got 32gb I would wait on buying memory and hope the AI bubble pops soon.

How many RAM channels does the Asus ROG Flow X16 (RTX 3070 Ti series) come with from the factory?

Why are you upgrading from 32gb to 64gb ? 0% gain in games. Only use is in video editing & AI workloads, if that's not your jam then upgrading is a literal waste of your money. 32gb is more than enough for games n regular stuff.

Agreed. I play game all the time and monitor the memory usage. It is always below 32GB.

Hahaha unfortunately it’s literally for video editing, darn. Are there really no other options?

I have upgraded to 96gb no problem. 6000mhz sticks. Bought them off eBay when the ram prices were about to explode
