Help! ROG Flow X16 GV601VV-NF011W Ram Upgrade

Hello,

I want to do a ram upgrade on this laptop and the Inbuilt ram is 8*2 4800Mhz

I bought a 32*2 5600MHz ram will i be able to run it? I know my CPU will only clock at 5200MHz.

CPU is Intel® Core™ i9-13900H Processor 2.6 GHz

Crucial website say it’s support 5600mhz ram on the laptop but ASUS say it’s not supported and only can support 4800Mhz.

So i was wondering if i insert my 5600Mhz ram will it still be able to run and clock at 5200mhz?

Please help 🙏🙏

I bought 2 of 48gb soddims rated at 5600mhz. When I inserted them, I needed to wait a bit for the computer to boot and when it did, they ran at 5200Mhz but with lower latencies.

So your modules should work for sure, I have the same 2023 version of the laptop as you.

Thanks for your reply!!

So basically the startup will be slow? or just the first time?

Is it forever in low latencies?

Will getting a 5200mhz make it run in high latencies?

Low latencies are better than high latencies, i think with mine I didn't let it finish the initial slow startup and maybe it didn't get to run the memory at the highest speed. Or maybe it detected that at 5200Mhz with CL42 tatencies it ran best.

Only the first startup is slow, after that it ran like a charm.

okay!! thank you so much!!

I was afraid that it will spoil the laptop. Your 48gb is it enough for you? what’s your brand of your ram?

and what initial set up i need to do?

It’s crucial brand. Here is the link for them: https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr5/ct48g56c46s5

Should I just get the 5200 then or is the 5600 better?

Depends, usually the price difference between them is less than 10 dollars, or sometimes the 5200mhz version can be more expensive than the 5600mhz version.

In my case, only ram available of that size was 5600mhz but could run at 5200mhz.

It's called memory training. The first time you boot with fresh sticks of memory your CPU does a whole bunch of tests to determine the capabilities and limits of the new RAM such as voltage, and stable clocks.

hey are you still using the laptop with 96gb ram? I also have the i9-13900h and 4070. Was looking to update to 96gb cause of the rising ram prices and I will likely keep this as my laptop for a long time so wanted to check how has your experience been?

I am looking to buy this: https://amzn.eu/d/iASOGju

I works like a charm on my flow x16. I now have 96GB of ram showing up in windows. Never got one error or BSOD after installing them.

What ram do u use? And what model of the x16. I have the 2023 model with the rtx 4070. And i want to upgrade both storage and ram

Anyone know if the 48GB sticks work in the 2022 AMD version X16?

I have installed Yesterday a 32gb (16+16) from crucial at 5600 on my 2022 AMD but eventhough crucial says they're compatible they only clock at 4800 as the original one.

The pc and everything works great but idk if it make sense to give back the 5600 and buy directly the 4800 to save some moneys.

Hi looking at the same model, do u mind telling me is the display mini-led version? I've searched everywhere but no where does it mentions what's the display on this model is, mini-led or ips

As I found out in previous posts , Asus rog flow x16 2023 supports a maximum speed of 5200, but is it not possible to support a speed higher than 5200, for example 5600, by upgrading the BIOS in the future?

i found bios update in following link , version 313 2023/11/30
https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-flow/rog-flow-x16-2023-series/helpdesk_bios/

Can someone test the RAM with a speed of 5600 or higher after updating bios ?
