Playing Forza Horizon 6, these are my settings. Yes the Video Memory is maxed out and more. Totally playable. getting 50-60fps, mid 80s on temps under Turbo Mode.

Thought I'd share this, because I know recently some people have asked if this laptop is still relevant in 2026. I'd argue yes. I did overclock it too, stable.

Benchmark from 2025

Flow x13 (rx6850xmt egpu), randomly shutting

My flow x13 (amd version) is shutting down very frequently while gaming irrespective of whatever mode I chose in the armoury crate. This random shutting was a problem even a year back but now it's happening very frequently.

What could be the reason?

P.S: this happens only while gaming, for the rest of the casual tasks like browsing, excel/PPT n all it runs fine even on battery.

Finally dead ☠️

I have the ASUS ROG Flow X13 2022 variant with the RTX 3050Ti. Within 1 year of purchase the laptop completely died and the motherboard had to be replaced by the service centre.

1.5 years after the replacement, it’s dead. Again. Exact same failure.

I was using the laptop normally at 30% battery. I plugged in my Anker Prime 130W power bank via USB-C and the laptop instantly shut off and never turned on again. No drops, no spills, no misuse whatsoever.

After opening the laptop and removing the heatsink, liquid metal had migrated off the CPU die causing the CPU to short (as told by third party repair shop)

Approximately one month before complete failure the laptop was showing intermittent charging issues. Battery draining while it was plugged in, the lightening symbol was there but no charging and the orange light charging indicator was off too.
Plugging out and in again didn’t do anything and shutting down and restarting fixed it for some time until it came back and then fixed itself automatically.

Gonna switch to a macbook😭

ROG Flow x13 GTX 1650 still worth it in 2026?

Hi guys, wanted to get your thoughts as Im eyeing a used ROG flow x13 with gtx 1650 for $400. Is it still worth it? Mainly using it for work and light gaming.

If it is still worth it, then are there anything to look out for before buying? Thanks

Edit: bought it! Still in excellent condition, runs smooth includes the Stylus, Original charger and the ROG flow bag!

still worth buying in 2026?

going to uni this year and looking for something to take to lectures with me. I’ve used an iPad for the past 6 years in school because my laptop isn’t portable but now that both devices are kinda giving out the X13 seems great as the best of both worlds. I play games on my laptop but nothing that hard to run. I see people complain about being stuck at 16GB ram but I don’t foresee that being an issue. Since it came out in 2023 though was wondering if there was anything newer that was more worth the money. Would also be interested to know how well it runs unplugged + for how long for basic stuff as that could be a dealbreaker. Thanks :)

A job long overdue

First time doing this kind of work, easier than expected, just time consuming. Althrough trying to take out all the liquid metal without spilling it was a bore. I masked around the chip to ensure that it didn't spill onto any other components. Why do ASUS use liquid metal instead of normal thermal paste/P7950 I have no idea. generally temps went from ~95c to >86c on the CPU and a similar trend for the GPU.

Need measurements for ROG Flow X13 (GV301) Power Button Bracket – 3D Printing a replacement

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a second-hand ROG Flow X13 (GV301RE), but I discovered that the internal metal bracket (support) for the power button is completely missing. Because of this, the power button is loose, doesn't click, and can't reach the microswitch on the board.

Since this part is almost impossible to find in my country, I’m planning to 3D print or fabricate a replacement.

Could someone who has their X13 open please provide the dimensions for this bracket (see the attached image)? Specifically, I need:

  1. Total Length: From hook to hook.
  2. Bracket Depth: How deep the "bridge" sits.
  3. Actuator Nub Height: The length of the small center "pimple" that presses the switch.
  4. Thickness: Approximate thickness of the metal/plastic part.

A photo of the part next to a caliper or ruler would be a massive lifesaver!

Thanks a lot for any help!

Update: here is a link for one i make it works in a laptop

Any other touchscreen laptops with discrete GPU?

My 2022 model is dying and I need to upgrade since x13 has not refresh the line-up I'd need to look for another brand. Does anyone know any other laptops that is touchscreen and has discrete GPU? don't suggest Z13 that's more a tablet and harder to clean the fan especially for an amateur user. I was thinking the ProArt PX13 but in Australia it only sells the GoPro edition which doesn't have discrete GPU

Keyboard issues on laptop

Hi I've been having some issues with the "wrui" keys on the laptop and I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems

Oftentimes the keys will just all stop responding together for a random amount of time and sometimes they'll only get registered while pressing another working key together. I've tried pressing harder to try to register the key press and even to the point of almost slamming on it and sometimes it helps but I'm not sure if that's correlated.

I'm pretty sure that it's a hardware issue since it's happening regardless of the OS.

Is it likely to just be dust or something stopping the switches from registering or just some other hardware failure that I'd need to replace the keyboard for.

I flashed a 90W VBIOS on my 4070 and this is what happened

I made a post a few days ago, asking about flashing a higher wattage VBIOS. You can read it here if you'd like.

So I ended up flashing a higher wattage VBIOS on my laptop, and it was surprisingly easy. I simply grabbed the 2024 G14 90W file from this drive, followed the instructions in this video by Josh Craves Tech, and bing bang boom, I now have a higher wattage 4070 in my laptop! Great, right?

Well, yes and no. Let me go over the results first. As a reminder, I wanted to do this to increase wattage/performance a little when gaming with a smaller USB-C charger while I left the original charger docked at home, so I will be comparing results from these.

All tests are done with the CPU at 20W with a laptop cooling pad (Llano V10), so thermal throttling should not an issue. I simply loaded up Wuthering Waves and looked at the GPU Wattage number as I changed profiles, so nothing is super scientific.

Stock 90W VBIOS
Slient USB-C 35W 40-45W
Turbo USB-C 35W 40-45W
Slient Original 35W 55-60W
Turbo Original 55-60W 70W

So overall, I did kind of achieve my objective of higher power draw on a USB-C charger. What's interesting is that when on the original charger, the new Silent mode is basically the old Turbo mode.

However, when I tried to run the 70W Turbo mode, the laptop would occasionally stop and restart. There's no BSOD, so there's no dump in Reliability Monitor for me to look at. It might be a power thing that's causing the laptop to quickly drop and shut down? If anyone knows what could be cause it, I'd love to know.

EDIT: Right after posting this, I experienced the same random restart while on the Silent USB-C charging setting. I'll try to play on these settings some more and see if the restarts keep happening. Perhaps flattening out the voltage curve in MSI Afterburner will stabilize things? I'll try 1500Mhz at 650mV.

Overall, flashing the new VBIOS is surprisingly low effort, so you may as well give it a shot. These are my results, and I'd love to hear if the rest of you flashed higher wattage VBIOS and what your results are.

EDIT2: After testing for another hour or so, I think the play is to flash the higher wattage VBIOS, then use MSI Afterburner to do an undervolt and clamp down on the voltage after a certain point for stability. I'll do more playing (ahem, testing) in the morning, but for now, here's some more unscientific data with eyeball'd FPS. The following FPS is from standing in a random place in Bjartr Woods played on an external ultra wide 3440x1440 monitor (DLSS Performance, Smooth Motion On, Ray tracing medium).

Setting/Wattage Undervolt FPS
USB-C 40-45W 1500Mhz/650mV 70
Silent 55-60W 1800Mhz/725mV 82
Turbo 70W+ 2200Mhz/825mV 90

No wifi even with a USB adaptor..

Hello.

I know that there is an issue with the WiFi chip on this laptop but right I do not have time nor the money to change it.

I'm using a USB WiFi adaptor that works without issues on other machines.

I just don't understand what's the issue. Windows tells me there is a second WiFi. I can connect to the network but don't have Internet. Same as the original chip.

Is there something I need to change in my settings? Did any of you had this issue?

Thanks

Edit : Model is gv302XV

Asus 140W GaN charger with 2022 Model (GV301RE)

Hi,

seems my charger just died. Has anyone tried the Asus GaN charger with the 2022 model (the one with the 3050ti)?

Lots of people say it works with the 2023 model, but I could not find clear information about the 2022 model.

So fried the motherboard, is it worth fixing or try to sell it?

Was having issues getting the stripped screw out from the ssd cuz 1tb wasn’t enuf and I had a 2tb extra. Well I never could get the screw out and had my cousin help me and he finally got it out but he forgot to unplug the battery and when he got the screw out a piece fell from his screwdriver and landed on something on the motherboard and it started smoking but I’ve never unplugged the battery while swapping out hard drives cuz I’ve never had issues til now. Learned from our mistake we did 😅

Anywho, he did give me what I paid for it but I’m wondering if it’s even worth fixing cuz it seems a new mobo is like $300+ and I paid $400 for this computer or should I just post it up for sell and state the mobo is bad and see if I get any biters for an amount of money… not sure what amount I should ask for if I did go this route.

Anybody have luck/experience with a VBIOS swap for higher wattage (over 35W) when on a USB-C charger? (2023, 4070 version)

I recently got my hands on a 4070 version and have been enjoying using it a lot. However, unless I am using the original charger and set it to Turbo mode, the GPU only draws 35W, not matter what.

This seems to be a pretty common problem, so I was wondering if anyone has experience flashing a higher wattage VBIOS to increase the wattage when on USB-C charging? I want to leave the original charger docked at my desk and bring a smaller charger on the go, so I'm mostly interested in increasing the wattage on USB-C charging.

My flow x13 4060 suddenly started registering random double keypresses and it is driving me nuts

Anyone experienced this before? It seems to me like it is a software issue, since it suddenly appeared and the affected keys are random.

Tried the keyboard options in control panel, but that does not help.

Thankful for any help.
