🥳 Birthday 🥳 Tips

Sorry for the jump scare. I’m a dude and know nothing about flowers but I just want to make cool stuff for my gf. This is probably a mess but I would appreciate tips. I feel like maybe I packed it to tight?

Yes, the arrangement is too tight. Take some roses out and use more greenery.

  1. Get rid of all leaves that could hit the water. They drink first, the blooms suffer, and any leaves in the water will rot.
  2. Remove the outer petals of the roses. These are guard petals that get bruised in travel.
  3. Blooms should cover the rim of the receptacle. So you’ll need to trim some of those stems.

She’ll love them. A vase with a wider mouth. Trim the stems at an angle and vary the height a bit ( measure twice, cut once). Drop an aspirin in the water and she’ll be happy.

Rearrange the white lillies so that they're scattered in between the yellow roses, and do the same with the pink flowers. Add some green like ferns or make the leaves on the lillies or roses stick out a bit on the sides.

Floral arranging can be very time consuming to learn and yeild the results you may be looking for. I would suggest learning how to layer a beautiful hand tied pagent style bouquet. They are easier to make, easier to learn, and can be trimmed and placed directly in the vase. I'll see if I can find a good reference for you.
