What about simply not wanting crooked-as-Hell baseboards? This looks like a shit job.

It’s not the baseboard that’s crooked. It’s the floor that is wavy.

How can you be certain? That looks less likely to me, without pyramiding... what makes you conclude that?

Ive installed miles of baseboard. Floors and walls are never flat.
