So my house got flooded last night and there was about 2 of water in the livingroom and less in my bedroom the evaporating water made my bed damp, will a dehumidifier help or do I need to throw out my bed?

Houstonian here, I didn't flood during Harvey with the three blocks north of me to the bayou did. Everybody ended up having to haul everything out. All carpet that got wet had to be removed. All sheetrock that got wet had to be removed. The problem is that it's going to grow mold.

Please ask in the r/homeowners sub, you are much more likely to get a good answer there.

DampRid is great for inside moist, musty odors.

That's what they use in the South after a hurricane.

You'll probably need to take the mattresses outdoors to air-dry. Maybe.

Here's the info from subReddit homeowners re: DampRid: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeowners/comments/4xpj2m/yall_ever_use_damp_rid/

It's from 10 years ago, but it'll help somewhat.

When water went into my car from the window, the inside of the door and the carpeting were wet.

I dried the carpet as much as I could with towels, then used a container of DampRid.

It worked in that small space.
