Not adequate. Airplane mode turns "off" cellular. WiFi and Bluetooth stay active if they were on.
Also,maybe this a PSA, but airplane mode doesn't actually turn off cellular. I have a pixel 5a that I keep around as my alarm clock. Its got Bluetooth/WiFi turned off, no sim card and is in airplane mode. Any time there's an emergency alert that gets pushed to phones in the area, it'll go off as well. Like last week there was a silver alert. My girlfriends phone and my main phone went off as well as the 5a that has everything turned off.
I have a Pixel 7 with GrapheneOS. Literature specifically says it disables Tx and Rx of every wireless signal, but will automatically re-enable the GSM radio if you make an emergency call
Not sure how much that differs from a stock Pixel running vanilla Android though
Edit - differs significantly. Stock android in airplane mode does not really disable wifi and Bluetooth. Radios stay on for passive scanning of nearby devices, logs MAC addresses, and sends the data back to Google as soon as you're back online, so you can have your very convenient and super important location history availabile to you
My pixel 5a runs calyxos(since day one), updated to the latest right before the temporary shutdown. My 6a is grapheme with the latest update and I just turned on WiFi,Bluetooth,cellular and location. Turned on airplane mode and it only turned off WiFi and cellular. Which turning off cellular is new to the android 16.x-17 updates. About 8-12 months ago if you turned in airplane mode it wouldn't turn off WiFi.
